Megaman XTreme 2 is one of the best GBC games ever. This is due to the fact that it has innovative graphics and soundtrack, despite the GBC not being a powerful console. It is one of those games that cool people play, while everybody else wastes their mind on Pokémon training. It is such a great platformer, everything that was great about Megaman XTreme got ported to Megaman XTreme 2.

The gameplay is very complex : it's not just about jumping and shooting,it's about using different weapons, dashing and air dashing, and using different characters. You have two playable characters,X and Zero. They certainly don't play the same.X is a long range fighter, with a big variety of weapons that can inflict major damage on certain enemies.
Zero is a close range fighter, with a big variety of moves that can hit enemies even in the hardest spots. So,basically, you can go either for a defensive game with X,or an offensive game with Zero. They both have their advantages.

Also, there are two nifty features that allow X to shoot automatically just by holding the button, and another one which allows him to charge automatically. Zero doesn't has those features, because, well,he is a hardcore character. X is easier to use, since you don't need to stay close to enemies. Zero relies too much on skill in order to be properly used. After you finish the first stage, you will get to choose which stage you want to go next. You can also buy parts that increase your stats,as well as give you new abilities, such as expanding Zero's Slash Combo, increasing the effect of recovery items, extending your barrier, etc. But the game is quite challenging if you don't use parts.

In fact, the part that will get you killed the most are probably the bosses. Spikes and Pits can kill you instantly, but there is always a way to overcome them. The problem are the bosses, which follow a pretty random pattern, and you have to slowly exploit their weaknesses in order to win. This is,yet, another game for hardcore players. It doesn't has a lot of replay value,so once you're done with one character, you might just as well play the game with the other one.

The story is quite interesting, but there are some surprises in there,so i won't spoil it. All i can say is,the game is epicly fun to play, from beggining to end. Dying a lot of times might tick you off,but that's just the way Megaman games are. If you're a Megaman fan,go for it,this game is epic win. And don't forget to buy parts! I Mean it! For real!
