The Sega 32X has a lot of power.
This is just the reason why Virtua Fighter 32X is one of the most impressive games on the Sega 32X,and not a total failure. It is definitely hard to port an arcade game to a home console and mantain the good aspects of the game, which is somenthing that Sega AM did perfectly.
Virtua Fighter 32X is a port of an arcade fighting game called Virtua Fighter,in which 8 different fighters duke it out in Polygonal 3D. Instead of going for the more outstandish approach,Virtua Fighter is a realistic game with realistic moves. There are no fireballs,no ultra combos, not one single dose of over-exaggerated energy based attacks. The game is simple, but deep at the same time.
There are three buttons,a punch button,a kick button and a guard button. By pressing combinations of directional and punching and kicking, you can unleash some devastating moves that will surely knock out your opponent rather easily. The key is to know when to guard and when to attack. There are two types of guard, high guard and low guard. High guard blocks high and middle attacks, and low guard blocks low attacks. You also get the added bonus of evading high attacks by crouching. However, you get extremely vulnerable to middle attacks when guarding low. If your opponent guards too much, try a throw! Just press Punch+Guard, and you should be able to bypass a guarding opponent easily. This only works on opponents that are standing still and not striking. By inputting certain directions and then doing a throw, you'll be able to use even more advanced throws, like Wolf's Giant Swing, which is the most useful throw in the game.or Kage's Judo Flip, which allows you to follow up with a variety of attacks.
All in all,Virtua Fighter 32X is a game that is certainly more fun with a friend.I Highly recommend anyone to play this game,as once you get the gist of it,you'll be doing ring-outs and knockouts all the time.Have Fun!
