When this game was made in 1993--and even today--almost all childrens' games were on PC. In fact, this game was too, but there were also NES and Super NES releases. Of course, being a childrens' game, it has to be educational. This is one of the three famous educational Mario games, along with Mario's Time Machine and Mario Teaches Typing. I will be reviewing the Super NES version of the game.

Bowser intends to melt the polar ice caps with, hair driers, and he's kidnapped Mario so his plan can't be foiled! ...But of course, he has to buy the hair driers. How is he gonna get the money for them? He's gonna steal famous landmarks, and sell them to get the money. (Does that mean Bowser is involved in the black market?) His oversight is that he didn't yet capture Luigi... so, you can expect who the player character is. Also, did I mention this game takes place in the real world?

The gameplay is, sadly, very confusing. You're supposed to recover the artifacts from the random Koopas out of the many walking around, and return them to the three info booths... but just getting to them is annoying. East/West roads are basic platforming, but to go through North/South roads, you have to line yourself up with the sidewalk/crosswalk and press the direction you want to go in. There is a map, but you have to go to it so many times to remember which way to go. There is also a "Globulator," which is a world map resembling the maps from Super Mario World, and you stop on major cities... with no purpose whatsoever. When you return an artifact to the correct info booth, you have to answer two trivia questions about it. If you get one wrong, you have to come back later and try again.

The graphics are actually very nice, at least in the SNES version. They're partly based off of SMW, and partly original. N/S streets are on a pseudo-3D plane, and the single-layer backgrounds show multiple rows of buildings. The palettes represent the type of city you're in, too; places such as Rome have a brownish, more peaceful palette, and places such as New York have a more colorful pallete.

I'll have to admit, the music is my favorite part of this game. Remixes of the Super Mario World themes, done is ways based off of the city you're in. That's really all I can say about that.

My conclusion is. Story 4/10. Gameplay 2/10. Graphics 7/10. Sound 9/10. overall 5.5/10. This is a game I wish would have been better. But everthing can't happen. This is Redskiller's first review hope you liked it.

What game is this from?  You aren't supposed to be able to post a thread here without going through the game's page first.
