Honestly, for me,  it depends on the character.
Lloyd
He isn't really the best attacker, but if you learn to master his bombs and Bottle Rockets, he can be decent.
Teddy
This guy is a BOSS. Even when you get him at level 18, he can destroy enemies easily. You can sweep the Dragon pretty quickly if you equip him with the sword before the fight.
Jeff
This Einstein can pretty much sweep anything.
Since EarthBound introduces higher levels of Bottle Rockets, along with other fixable items like the Heavy Bazooka and the HP Sucker, he can deal a mass amount of damage in a turn. Especially the Bottle Rockets. If you have a Multi Bottle Rocket, you can kill bosses instantly, or in less than 2 or 3 turns.
Duster
Early in the game, Duster is a pretty good attacker. His thief tools help ALOT in battle, and if you can flip around an enemy with the siren beetle, the battle's yours. But when he returns in chapter 5, he turns into a pure - melee person. His Scary Mask and Tickle Stick fall to Kumatora's Offense down and Defense down, which actually work all the time. The siren beetle still has some use, if you're too lazy to stock up on Made - you - looks. And the Wall staples usually never work. So, I don't really know about Duster. He's half - half, you could say.
Boney
Boney isn't good at all in terms of attack. His stats are absolutely HORRIBLE.
Though he is good in two ways. First is his "sniff" ability. It is related to Jeff's Spy ability, but it does not reveal the stats of enemies. So there's something for him.
Next, his inventory could be used for keeping bombs and pencil rockets. Since his attack is horrible and his only weapon, found later in the game, is horrible, explosives put him at an advantage.

So what do you think of the characters that can't use PSI?

You are a f***ing earthbound freak. I like that!

Anyway, yeah I like the non psi users. I'm not going to go into massive detail like you did, but I will attempt to explain my thoughts.

Lloyd is a great character for when you need some quick massive damage. He's got the sub-par defense (well, I think its better than ana's if I remember right.) and his offense isn't so hot, but makes up for it with bombs and such, which comes in handy.

Teddy (who actually can be kept as a party member for the entire rest of the game from the time you get him) is my favorite non psi user. He can utilize swords, which is a plus in my book. Also, he has some pretty decent stats but sadly lacks the ability to utilize bombs. This is actually not much of a setback for me because he has some pretty boss offensive skill.

Jeff is another great non psi user.  I love his variety of explosives that he has access to, and there's really one for every tight situation. I like to sort my bombs/ bottle rockets among the weaker to stronger enemies to I know the right times to use them. Of course, he has the trademark poopy defense, but once again this is made up for with bombs.

Boney is just a doggy. He's useful for sniffing but I dont find him otherwise a great party member. He makes a great pet though.

Duster is funky. He can use a variety of non-disposable tools that really come in handy, especially the smoke bomb. Crying is a hardcore status ailment in boss battles so many of dusters thief tools are a key to winning in mother 3.

I like them as secondary characters. They aren't my favorite types of characters.

Lloyd and Teddy  I don't know if they are good or not.

Jeff is great! His bottle rockets are really good and he make weapons by sleeping.

Duster isn't too good. His thief tools are helpful and he can get a back attack sometimes.

Boney isn't that bad. Because of his speed he can heal people before they die or he can use things like the salt water gun and thunder bomb. I do use him as storage sometimes, but not always.

Overall I don't really like them unless they are like Jeff and have bombs and bottle rockets.
