What's wrong with music now:What good music was:
Get the point? Remember sitting around during the summer of '94 listening to Bush or Nirvana? Yeah..good times, but sadly we can't get them back because this generation is ruining everything when it comes to music. I'm not saying that metal and crap should be shoved down their throats but can't they at least TRY to listen to SOME different music other than "I be smokinzen on dat gas(x) I like to be o cinemax" I know everyone has an opinion and they they should listen to what they want to but why do they have to be so closed-minded and think that all other music is bad? This is coming from an irritable, black, 11 year old girl who just doesn't get why these feeble minded turds can't get through their thick skulls that this s**t isn't good, it's just auto tuned idiots who get noticed by idiotic 11 year old girls. I really want to hear the opinion from someone born in the era of wonderful music on this.'Cause it really It sucks giant elephant d**k that people have been brainwashed by modern media.

I couldn`t agree more with you. The music of "today" is horrible. Although I wasn`t born in there time, I LOVE Nirvana, Green Day, ect. When I first Listened to "nicki minaj" I wanted to rip of both my ears. When my little cousin told me she liked "Nicki" I forced her to listen to Metallica. She loved it. Now she refuses to have anything to do with anything similar.

Personally I think this is why the United States is falling behind to China...

marry me.
Lol.
*legal disclaimer that was a joke =p *
But being serious, there is great music.
Its just it never makes it on radio because people want the same, generic autotuned pop crap fed to them about how great it is to drink and how theyre over the last person who dumped them.
Music like that has no message.
Well maybe one:
"society is stupid and i can sell you a steaming turd if i wrap it up and call it art."
But i listen to plenty bands that are fairely new, and old ones still creating.
hnnn : lol, thats why losing to china.

I disagree. I think there are tons of excellent artists and groups making music right now - If you pay attention to more than just pop music you'll recognize this pretty quickly.

Annette : Yeah I know and realize that, I actually like some of the new mainstream music but it's the auto tuned crap I keep hearing some of the radio stations (but there are still some really good stations too) and seeing on Youtube that annoys me so much. I'm not gonna lie though, there's even a very small amount of the popular new pop music that I like.

Annette :

I agree, but let's face the fact, that it is pretty hard to find good music on air on the local radio stations or in general !

I remember in the 90's and early 2000's you could tune in to whatsoever radiostation and the music was freaking awesome and today ?
All the " mainstream music " is electric nowadays.

Hip Hop = Electric
Pop = Electric
R'n'B = Electric

Whatever music genre you want to listen to, it is all electric. What about good old instruments ?

I loved to listen to House and stuff in 2006 & 2007, but I never thought that years later music would only have like 2 lines of vocals, refrain and the desperate need of a tune that gets stuck in your ear.

I remember that I also was a huge Usher fan. " You make me wanna " , " You got it bad " , " My way " was amazing ! And now ? I can't even name the songs, because they sound all the same.

I hope my children get the chance ( not only because of me ) to listen to " good " music and not that crap that will be aired in the future...

ripefallapples45 : I do agree with you that music of yesteryear is better than that of today’s I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s and predominantly listen mostly to 80’s music Genesis, Bruce Springsteen, Def Leppard, Metallica many others etc. Music today seems quite generic but there are I’m sure a few artists out there who are good but nothing compared to the 80’s. I agree with you.

bvd1022 :

Totaly agree with you ! And you have a good taste of music

I even listen to music from the 50's - 90's and after the year 2000 there are only few things I like to listen to. I really think that music in the past not only had a better sound and vibe, but also a message.

Today's music message is all about Party, drinking, hangover, girls, b****es, cars and money......

I mean in the 90's we also had a lot of freaking party songs, but every song had a differnet tune and different lyrics !

ReZa : Well often anything that I listen to from today pretty much sounds like it came from the 80’s but I couldn’t name ten acts of today if someone asked me. I guess you can say that I got old mentally before I got old chronologically. I also for the most part stay away from reality TV with the exception of Gordon Ramsey’s shows and for a couple of shows that VH1 does mostly with serious actual reality themes attached to it. Beyond that I stay relatively glued to Netflix and old sitcoms in syndication. Far as music I hold out hope that I will be able to see Genesis live one day assuming that A they get back together and B I can actually afford to go to a concert. I am looking forward to the Rolling Stones pay-per-view concert next month though that will be fun. 50 years and their still going strong.

ReZa : It might just be because my area has a good music scene, but we have lots of great radio stations here that play new bands and artists who aren't strictly pop, but also local up-and-coming bands. We also have a lot of good music festivals.

I totally understand what you mean though, obviously I have to bear witness to crap like Nicki Minaj as well. D:

Lol how old are you? If your age that you gave is correct, I'm nearly twice your age and you sound older than me!

"Good" is subjective. I actually think that "good" music knows no time, genre, or what have you. I actually heard a lot of music this year that I really enjoyed by guys like Clams Casino, ASAP Rocky, Tinashe, Lil B (say what you will about his rapping, but he's got great beats and is always entertaining), Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, BADBADNOTGOOD, Death Grips, Killer Mike, and so forth.

I remember when I was younger and one day I realised something. I didn't like most classic rock. I mean, I like the Beatles and Zombies and Love and Black Sabbath and groups like that, but, it wasn't my preference. I listened to what other people and, GASP, music critics said about what was good and bad instead of just listening and discovering what I like on my own. As it would turn out, I much prefer music that has things like breakbeats, soulful singing, improvisation, and heck, stuff like Autechre that pushes what is music. But that's just me. I don't claim that what I like is good or better than other stuff.

ripefallapples45 : I know exactly what you mean, I liked some of the 90's music when it came to the grunge scene and that kind of style but everything else really wasn't what I was into it was mostly a hip-hop boy band kind of time, the music generation I wish I could have been a part of was the 60's and the 70's you had the hippies, the metal heads and the punks it is a perfect scene for me But today's music has taken way different slope downward, I turned the radio on the other day and the first thing that came on was that flipping somebody that I used to know song and immediately it turned it off, I can't stand that song XD
