Long time no chat all.

I was on here a few days ago, and what suddenly grabbed my attention was seeing two copies of my mini-pic (which is animated making it easy to catch my eye) in the Online Users list. I check the profile and see the member joined only a week prior, but given I have only been reading lately it surprised me this member would single out my mini-pic and use it as his own.  I PMed him, he apologized for using it without my permission (not a big deal. I just thought I would say something since I created it) and he asked if he could still use it. Sure, why not?

Since then, checking my PMs I notice he has been banned (and looking at his inflated post count + last post I can assume why) so I visited his profile. Not only was he using my mini-pic but he is using  the same equipment and accessories as me (of what he could afford as a new member) a birth date like mine with the day and month flipped around, and one more similarity which I will leave unnamed.

It wasn't as if he was pretending to be me, but it was still very weird to see. (No, I am not going to name the member. If anyone knows/figures it out, that person should not name the user either.)


Have you ever noticed someone (online or in real life) that takes your style, your looks, your user name and avatar, or something similar and copies you or tries to pass themselves off as you?

As far I know. I don't have any clones... The most closest thing to a clone I had was a guy who had the same real name that I have. But our likings were pretty different.

It's probably that one guy who follows Elara and Req around. He just likes making clone accounts so people don't know it's him, and he can get in and cause trouble with the more "sensitive" members. He does it on a lot of sites.

I don't have a clone that I'm aware of, and though it WOULD be annoying, you should be flattered!  Copying is the most sincere form of flattery!

I'm actually more likely the mimic than the one who gets mimicked. I have a tendency to do impressions of my friends and sometimes going all out and copying their styles entirely for short periods of time. It's just me having fun and fooling around... but I'll dress, act, and talk like them when I do this act. I'd never do this to a total strange though.

The key reasons I do this are:

1) as a celebration of how cool the person is in question. If someone has an interesting personality, it becomes more fun to imitate that. I wouldn't bother mimicking someone who I didn't find neat.

2) as a test of my own personal flexibility. I like to challenge myself in how well I can act (I'm not nor do I ever intend to be an actor... this is all just for myself). Can I copy people who behave in ways that are drastically different than my own nature? It's sure fun to try.

I've only ever had this occur once before and it wasn't even on Vizzed. I wasn't the person to discover it either; another member of the site messaged me to let me know because I wasn't exactly unknown on the site so it wasn't allowed to copy-cat or steal anything from me. (Not that it was allowed in the lower members either... but it was noticeable with me.)

The only time I ever had someone try to "copy" me was when I was friends with the chick that has been stalking me. I thought she was over all that by now, but apparently not.

Huh, pretty interesting story you've got down there. I was able to track down your copier through memory. Pretty odd considering the person, heh.

Anyways, I don't have any "clones" or whatever as far as I am aware, but I have copied some things from other people before, specifically userpics, Nya~.
