Okay, so. Basically - Getting UTIs frequently seems to be something that runs in the female line of my family. I have no idea why, but... well, anyhow. Not the point.

This is the first UTI that I've actually been concerned about. It was causing me fits pretty badly. So, I googled home remedies since I can't go to the doctor to get meds. I haven't actually made use of any of them.

It was suggested to avoid caffeine, chocolate, sugar, citrus, etc. Well, I haven't actually done that. But I noticed that my Peppermint Tums were giving me some relief. My boyfriend tagged it as the Tums themselves; I figured it was the peppermint oil. I didn't see peppermint oil mentioned as a possible fix.

But, I decided - why not? I picked up a bag of the typical hard candy peppermints and I've been tearing into them. And it's actually helping. A lot. I was in agony this morning and for the majority of the past few days. Actually, I was basically in agony up until I started popping the peppermints. So, I'm not inclined to believe it was coincidence.

Anybody with any more knowledge than a lost 19 year old have some insight for me?

Local Mods :

Can you deal with the obvious Copy/Paste from iSpy that had absolutely nothing to do with my OP?

iSpy:
Please read the post thoroughly if you plan on trying to reply. And please, for crying out loud, do not C&P.

I'm wondering what UTI is. It would help if you could spell out the acronym and give a brief description about what it is. Someone in here may be able to help, myself included.

Cyro Xero : UTI means Urinary Tract Infection

Ktanaqui: Do you know if the infection is a Lower Urinary Tract Infection (bladder infection) or Upper Urinary Tract Infection (kidney infection)? Cause I couldn't tell by your symptoms which one it is (I'm going to assume Lower cause a kidney infection would be somewhat serious.) But your correct Females are more prone to getting UTI's.

A wise man speaks because he has something to say. A fool speaks because he has to say something.

Oldschool41 :

It's a Lower Urinary Tract Infection. It's gone down some, but not much. More annoying than anything else now, in all honesty.
