Are you talking about the GB/GBC games? If so, what you do is you first save inside the game, than you double click the screen of the game and choose to save. Now when you go to load your file, you must start up the game and double click the game and choose load, than from within the game you load your progress.

You just press ctrl+v to paste the code in. I can't right click and paste, which I'm sure of the same as your problem, but just pressing ctrl and v at the same time works. Hope this works for you, not being able to save gets really annoying.
