No no no I didn't say that hmm...ok lemme try to explain a bit xD; When you type a URL into your web browser and send it, its pretty much like back in the day telling an operator, "please connect me to Mr. So & So in Florida" or something. Basically that URL gets to your ISP server and changes it to an IP address so the servers can understand what you are saying. It travels along till it finally gets to the root server which contains the addresses for all the top level DNS it redirects your IP to said DNS in this case the .com DNS and continues redirecting to its sub DNS till it finds the site. Then this information gets back to us and finally we can connect to said web server and download the web page.
Now where I was getting at was that along the way to getting to Vizzed web server one of the DNS may be having some problems, there are many for each top-level DNS yet since its IP address changes infrequently and it is deemed as the shortest route to get to your destination that it continues to pass through there.
Since no one server contains everything, and there are millions of ways to get there, what the DNS deems as the quickest route from where you are is the route it will take, since the router servers job along the way is to redirect it to the proper location. I don't know if that makes it any clearer of how I was explaining things. All in all I created another thread that has instructions on how to trace the route along the way to a web server if you're intrested, to see where along the way the request is getting timed out and is taking longest to pass through. With that information you can tell your ISP what the issue is where it is taking place and they can connect to a different top level DNS in order to stop the large amount of load time.

Rasenganfan2: Actually I'd definitely go with a windows server since I know how to operate it. Additionally, I have a 1 year trial for the newest windows server software though I'm sure it'd be easy to get a free copy.

I just did that, Vizzed has 20 jumps, other has 12, Vizzed has lower total ping.

Did I mention that Vizzed has lower ping? Yet Vizzed is slower?

Yeah, somethings f***ed up here.

Dave: OK, just throwing it out there for ya. Linux is good if you're a cheap fool, like me lol.

OK, so, it's the coding and hosting that's slowing Vizzed down? By hosting, I mean Vizzed hosting the Retro games room and such, not the actual server hosting.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
