I honestly didn't know where to post this, so if it needs to be moved, please feel free to do so. Anyway, does anyone else love this era? I sure do, especially the clothing. I think it was more detailed back then. And they seemed to give more attention to detail. They took their time making their clothing. And of course it was a lot more modest in my opinion. These are the kinds of clothing I love from that time.





If you like this era, what do you like about it? I also love how they rode horses back then. I would love to have been able to do that. Take your time traveling and enjoying it more. Today everything is just way to fast paced to enjoy anything to it's full extent.

I think people often forget how hard life was back then for 99% of people though. Like I'm sure you actually would not want to really live back then. It may sound fun , but it really was all hard work and little to no play. I especially say you wouldn't like it since you're a female and in medieval times woman were treated cruelly and inhumane.

But I mean if I could go back then and be a King.. Sure, sign me up! Unfortunately though, royalty of that time were the only people who lived a life that nowadays we would even consider decent.

Oldschool41 : I think what I like most about that era was the fact you got to ride a horse everyday and that you got to wear those beautiful dresses.

LegolasJLH: Yeah, that I didn't take into account, like I told Oldschool41, I thinks I mostly love the clothing, only it would be too hot to wear stuff like that everyday with the area I live in. California gets so hot in the summertime. But I do like some of the things from that era. I now reconsidered that I wouldn't want to live in that era because like Oldschool 41 said, they didn't have the medical technology they have now. And knowing about witch trials and even hangings, eww no thanks. I also wouldn't have been able to stand how the women were treated back then, I probably would have ended up being hung just for telling a guy to shut his mouth. LOL.

One of the greater periods in humanity if you ask me.  I love everything about knights and kings.  I think it would be fun to revisit that time era.  I am like those characters lol.

Yeah those are good reasons to love the era. Being a horse breeder or horse shoe maker would have been a wonderful living for back then, other than being royalty.

no i dont. It was also known as the dark ages. Kings ruled with iron fists, in the wars between england and scotland alone entire towns were executed.
People were in destitute poverty, religion ruled absolutely with horrible effects, atheists and 'hereticts(protestants etc)' were burned at the stake, crusades were constant, disease was rampant.
Its interesting to see the mention of clothes. Most people couldnt aford decent clothes, rags were all. Only the rich could afford dyed clothes and in fact it was generaly ilegal for certain 'rich' colours to be worn by non nobles.
It was one of mankinds darkest days.

Oldschool41 : I was referring to the renaissance era. Definitely not the dark ages or the crusade. Guess I should have specified or looked into the different ones before posting. LOL.

I do like the clothes though, because they do seem to have more detail and have better quality. I have to say that I don't like that era. To me it just seem really religious or am I talking about a different era.

I really enjoy looking back at this era quite fondly, not from any personal experience but from the point of view that hand to hand combat was so prominent.   There are plenty of things wrong with back then, like being burned at the stake and all the other wonderful things people did to each other; but to look at historical battles was astounding.   The growth of the Arts during the later half also makes this more appealing to me as well; overall one of the best time periods for history and for my liking!   Mount and Blade comes from this era, and its just so strange to think that just about anyone could start up a nation with the right knowledge and with connections.   There were so many countries back then which would be unheard of today.  I just look at the interesting bits rather than look on to the plague and the heretic crazed populous because we all know that the peoples of the time were more feared for their own survival that they would point the deadly blame towards anyone they feared the most.   Such chaos and confusion.  Also the Middle Ages brought us in the Far East the Japanese upheaval period.  Japan was in the 15th century close to civil war (the Sengoku Period) as the Shogunate was beginning to lose influence with the local warlords.   So many new and turbulent times were at hand for the future of both Europe and Asia it is an astounding piece of World History.

Oldschool41 : Haha I think I should do some research on the different era's of the medieval times. I should know more about it. I know that I really just like the clothing style, plus the women had long hair and always wore it up really pretty. I guess it's the physical appearance the women had that I like more. That and being able to have a horse to ride. I'm a huge animal lover.

the enlightenment is interesting. Its the time when science started questioning the answers the bible gave us, and didnt get beheaded for heresy.
Still, i wouldnt want to be outside italy. Venice would be good. They were rich as they had a small empire.
Byzantine not so much. They were falling apart and the turks were encroaching. Constantinople was a great city, the turks invaded and it became one of the most backward regions in europe. Its called istanbull now.
Being british, german still sucked, very poor. And eastern europe were always killing each other.
And spain was still pursuing heretics.

Yep I am definitely going to take some time to look into this in between posting. Haha. I love Italy, never been there but I love it. So I can imagine what it might have been like back then. 

Those are some absolutely gorgeous dresses.  I do indeed love the medieval era, as it's one of the most fascinating in my opinion.  Whenever I role play, I feel most comfortable using a medieval setting.  I don't think I could ever tire of writing stories set in those times.
