I was wondering if anyone knows of a way I can keep my computer from lagging when I play games on it. Like can I get any programs to help? If this is in the wrong area, please feel free to move it.

Courage is not having the strength to go on, it's going on when you don't have the strength. ????

You could defrag your hard drive, make sure you don't have a lot of background processes running (Steam, Skype, printers, things like that). Basically look down by your clock and exit any programs there that you can.

Uninstall anything on your computer that you don't use on a monthly basis. Turn off auto updaters. Don't let programs start when Windows starts. Turn off Aero effects (If they are enabled).

Turn off anti virus programs, firewalls and things of that nature

But most importantly, do not download anything that will "make your computer faster". There is no such thing and it will more than likely slow you down.

I'm probably a bit late, but you should definitely check out Game Booster.
All it really does is do some of the system tweaks Lazlo suggested above only while you're playing a game and close various processes that you are guaranteed to never use while playing a game, but it really works wonders, I've had it double my fps on multiple games on my horrible netbook in the past.
I actually even used it while not playing any games, which managed to speed up Chrome quite a bit, too, without ever noticing any drawbacks.
