riderx40 : Don't know where you got this random 44,000 mph idea from, but that is not remotely true. Objects in space have been seen moving much faster than that. Heck, light travels over 670million mph, and it would require a speed even faster than that to distort the equilibrium of the the relationship between gravity and time. |

No, because no one can ever go back in time and nobody has objects to make one. Also, the future has not happened yet. So no, it's fake. Also, the future has not happened yet. So no, it's fake. |

Divine Aurora: I am of a similar opinion; it's my personal theory that Time occurs all at once, and that we only perceive it as happening in a linear fashion because that is our human nature. If you've ever read When You Reach Me, the character Julia explains Time to be like her ring, flowing at once and never-ending, all present at once, and that each moment humans experience is like a diamond on the ring- all exist at once, but all can be seen separately. The interesting quirk in Julia's theory is that the order the 'diamonds' are experienced or seen can be changed. If everything is a circle, how do you know which way is forward and which way is backward? Furthermore, what happens at the 'end' of Time? If it's a circle, there isn't one. Does that mean time is a never-ending cycle? |

Though truly anything is possible and anything could happen, but at our current stance, I do not believe in Time Travel. It would be cool to travel back in time and get a pet Kentrosaurus, but moral laws prevent it. A guy could go back in time and kill Abraham lincon as a baby and change history forever. Blacks would be enslaved, the world relies more on stereotypes, and we are more racist by default. So it is morally wrong. Also, if time travel was a thing, why don't we see suspicious activity about strange people with futuristic gadgets and stuff trying to change the past? I am pretty sure you would of gone back in time to fix your mistakes by now. But, that's another problem. All kinds of time travel contradicts itself. Say if you were in a major accident that cost you something in your life,, if you fixed it, that means you wouldn't of made the mistake and thus wouldn't of gone back in time. So if you didn't go back in time, you never actually corrected yourself, meaning you would have to go back in time and then Paradox! So time is constant and the past can never truly be changed, and even if you did change time without a paradox, like bringing a dinosaur to the present, it would affect the past, present, and future with major consequences. These are the logical reasons why time travel is impossible, and even if it was, it would be illegal. Keronian_wolf : Your argument is interesting- morals are rarely brought into consideration when theorizing time travel- though I'd like to point out that - killing Abraham Lincoln as a baby would not make people more racist by default. I could enter a long debate about racism at this point, but to keep it short and simple, England had gotten rid of their slaves years before and the move to abolish slavery was already in motion when Abe came to office- just not out in the spotlight. On the subject of time travel, though, I believe the answer to morals is the same as it is in every single area of life: people WILL do the wrong thing. But does that mean that we should prohibit those who would do vast amounts of good? Paradoxes are quite a possibility, but with strict monitoring, rules, and with moral implications and conscience, they can be prevented. If, however, man does commit one (and we probably will, trust me), then what happens? How would Time fix itself? A most interesting question, in my opinion. In a novel I am writing, I bring in the theory that Time writes itself clean- erases the person who committed the paradox from ever existing, or, in extreme cases, putting Time into an endless loop that continues on and on, doomed to repeat the cycle of beginning, paradox, and repeat (similar to the Bastion's last line of defense in the game Bastion). Of course, this is all speculation. On the subject of time travel, though, I believe the answer to morals is the same as it is in every single area of life: people WILL do the wrong thing. Dragonlord Stephi : Actually, by my arguement, I meant Slavery would eventually get Demolished, but it would last long enough for more rasict aspects to make it into American Culture and lifestyles. I thought other arguements might not of being as convincing as Abe's, making it harder to change it in the long run. But, your answer actually makes sense to counter that aspect though... Yes, Probably Time Travel will be created sometime in the future. We just do not have the right technoligy yet, sadly. |

Dragonlord Stephi : I think that time travel is possible but I don't think it's possible on the scale of taking our physical bodies and moving through space and time. My problem with physically moving is that simply.. the Earth rotates around the sun. If I were to go 180 days into the past, the Earth would be on the opposite side of the sun and I would be out in the middle of space somewhere. Thats it you were to break it down on a level that you will remain at this point in space and freely move through time. I think what most people normally think of is being able to move through time going forward or backwards but remaining at the space point on Earth. The problem that, again, is that objects move and you might move to a time where that space is already filled with other matter. I believe that there was something about The Philadelphia Experiment that was said to have people caught in walls and floors after conducting the experiment. Of course this is only speculation and no legitimate facts have been proven but this would be the closest representation to time travel or true invisibility. I think that the only true way time can be traveled is like a video recording. I know that people say the walls have eyes and record everything that happens within a house, for example. Sometimes it's like the walls playback some of the events that happened in the house. Of course, more gruesome events are more likely to be heard because it stands out. There is one time that happened to my family... I was at work and I received a call from my mom asking me if I came home moments before she called. No, I had been at work for a couple hours. I went home and my mom came to me and said she heard the locked front door open up, heard me walk in, said hey then heard me walk into the back of the house. After some time my mom went looking for me but I wasn't there. She turned to the rest of my family and asked all 5 of the others whether they heard the same thing. As strange as it may sound, they all said yes. I don't necessarily think that was time travel but I think the fabrics of time travel are very different than bending space and time. I could only imagine the chaos time travel would bring if you were physically able to go back in time. History is probably recorded and can be seen like a photo graph captures the tiniest moment in time or like a constant video recording that you can review. Only problem with this theory is that if you're able to see a detailed future video recording, your future would change and the outcome of that future would change as well. This might suggest the future is unwritten but there is a definable level of fate or destiny suggesting that some things will happen anyway. Do I think Time Travel is possible in a physical sense? No. Do I think time travel is possible in a visual sense? Yes I think that the only true way time can be traveled is like a video recording. Dragonlord Stephi : The possibility of going to any time period in the human world has been easily proved to be physically impossible. Buuuut, I guess the smartest man, KNOWN TO MAN (Albert Einstein) just thought we could travel by the speed of light, and also time travel. He did a bad job on trying to prove how it was possible though... |

I believe that in some point in the far future, we will be able to view things from the past. Not necessarily 'Time Travel', just viewing the past. |

Fireproof : An interesting idea. I especially thought that your theory about the earth's rotation and finding yourself in the middle of space is compelling. After all, if we do travel in time, it would take vast amounts of energy to do so (assuming that we could), and even more to move locations. We COULD very well find ourselves in the middle of space. |

Dragonlord Stephi : I can't imagine what would be needed to make time travel possible but I do know that science is making tremendous progress in many scientific fields, some of which helps other science progress further. Before you can even hope to reach time travel you have to think about the basic forms of travel and think of how we progressed to make travel easier over these many years... Start with walking... Walking and Running. You manipulate energy using your feet to move around and run faster. Wheels. You manipulate gravity to work with or against you (Going downhill, you'll roll down the hill and going up hill requires more work to roll up) Sailing. You manipulate wind to move a ship by use of sails. Fire. You manipulate oxygen, heat and energy. Explosives. You manipulate elements, chemicals, energy. Engines. You manipulate energy, elements, resources, chemicals. Electricity. You manipulated energy to provide power to electronic devices Flying. You manipulate energy to move forward while manipulating air. Computers/Internet. You manipulated energy to power components that run various storage units similar to those of the human body. Stealth/invisibility. You manipulate the 5 senses by manipulating sound, light and odor. Teleportation. You will need to manipulate energy in space (maybe like a worm hole to connect 2 points in space). Cameras. You've manipulated time by capturing moments either by photograph or video recording. The next step is to learn how to speed time up or slow it down while leaving yourself unaffected by it. Afterwards, it's to learn how to slow time so much that it stops. Lastly, you'd have to learn how to skip ahead in time or move through time in reverse. If time travel were possible, you'd need to learn a combination of manipulating teleportation and time. I did realize 1 thing though, anything that is physical can be manipulated and I believe time to be a physical thing. Walking and Running. I do not believe that time travel is possible because if it was, then somebody from any time in the future would've already gone back to tell people in the past that it was possible. But wait, that might not prove that it isn't possible because maybe the time travelers know to not go and around with the past. Well, maybe it's possible, maybe it isn't. I'm sure we'll find out some time in the future. |

This is a very interesting topic. In my opinion I do not think it is possible, mostly because it is impossible to even start wiith the idea of time travel. Maybe in the future, but now... no. SetoKaiba1025 : It's very possible people are time travelers and just won't tell you. You know, to avoid changing the course of history. I'm just speculating, of course. Does the Doctor go around telling people he's from the future? Okay, bad example, he says he is a lot. But you know what I mean. Okay, bad example, he says he is a lot. But you know what I mean. |

Nope not at all, though if it did ever exist no one would ever know because someone would keep going back in time and altering the past and changing things from the butterfly effect |

UFC : So now you have brought up the Rewritable Time theory. This theory is a big aspect in Doctor Who, as the Doctor constantly says, "Time can be rewritten, except for several fixed points." But what are those fixed points? How do we know which are rewritable and which are fixed? The Butterfly Effect is a valid concept in time travel. Even if time travelers follow certain rules and refuse to interfere, just by BEING there they are interfering. I don't know if you read the Circle of Time trilogy about a boy named Sam who finds a time machine in the basement of his father's bookstore. Sam's cousin Lily gets immensely sick while time traveling in the 1930s, and Sam's mentor says it is "time sickness- she is breathing particles of air that otherwise would not have gone to her. So in the future, those particles are somewhere else, and they may have been the particles she breathes in your own time. Just breathing has changed the future." |

Exactly, if we did ever change the future we would never know, hell if someone was changing the future right now we would be changing moments and places and inventions and whatever all the time. |

While I would love to believe in Time Travel, or anything as science fiction-like like it, I'd have to say that I just can't really ever find it possible or believable. |
