Background Hi, I'm Ultrajeff. This is my review on Rayman 3. Rayman 3 was made by Ubisoft in 2003. It used to be one of my favorite games growing up.Let's find out why. First of all, Rayman 3 is a 3d platformer. However it focuses on action and puzzles more, an aspect which i liked. It also had a points system, Which can be compared to others on the Rayman Zone website.

Story In the game, the plot is about Rayman and Globox sleeping peacefully until they come across a red lum. The red lum is so frightened by them that it transforms into an evil black lum called Andre. Andre Plans on conquering the world, but his plans are stopped when Globox eats him. The black lums are very angry and want to seek revenge against Rayman. In order for Globox's life to be saved, Rayman must extract  Andre from him and defeat him. Also, Rayman has to restore the Heart of the world and fight the nefarious Robo-Pirates. They seemingly return from Rayman 2.  It is quite similar to the previous installment Rayman 2, as it shares its enemies, hazards, characters, items, and plot. It is like a composite game.

Controls "A" is to Jump, "B" is to punch.

Gameplay This game is like its  valiant console predecessors. It consists of Punching, Jumping, and Flying through several levels. You have several powerups along the way to help you.  You must collect 1000 yellow lums and break 50 cages. The game has four hub worlds, with six to nine levels between each one. There are several different level types, such as: Traditional (You scroll from left to right in a traditional retro platforming style), Boss Levels (Which have no lums and are self-explanatory), Water Racing (Levels set in 3d, with no visible cages and several different obstacles), Kart Levels (Also have no cages, a fixed time-limit, three laps, and several challenging obstacles), Bonus Levels (Optional levels with no visible cages, and are for solely lum collecting), and Punch Challenges (A 2d level that requires you to scroll left-to-right horizontally using delicate "Punch Platforms", Balloons, Platforms, and Purple Lums).   There are also games for Multiplayer, such as Tag (Where a player must tag another and hide), and Bumper Car (Where two players race along a steep track). Rayman has several interestingly different powers, such as Double Fist (Useful for knocking down large objects), Grappling Fist (This allows extended reach), Wall Scaling (Self-explanatory), and Super Helicopter (Allows flight) to name a few. Lums have different meanings and are quite applicable, Like Yellow (For completing secondary objectives), Red (Refills Health), Green (Which represent level checkpoints), Blue (Which extends flight time), Purple (Which gives more range), and Silver (Which gives extra lives).   Check this out if you are a hardcore Rayman fan. Otherwise, this game should at least be played once to see if its right for your tastes.

I have played this game many years ago for the game cube so I don't know how different the game boy version of the game is. The only thing that I did not like about this game is that there were way too many power ups in the game. So many that I could not enjoy the one I currently had. There was always a power you had to get in the next level or even the same one forcing you to get rid of your current one. I really disliked that and felt forced to do something that I really didn't want to do. What if I really liked the power and wanted to keep it. In this game I could not. Other than that the story was pretty decent. The game didn't have much replay value to me. I felt that the bosses in the game were too easy. In my opinion I felt that Rayman 2: The Great Escape for the Nintendo 64 was a better game than Rayman 3.
