So, I am currently faced with the problem of my Monitor just plainly not working.
It is a ViewSonic VX900, and is quite old.
All that happens when turned on, is the "NO INPUT" sign flashes (As per usual) but for only a quarter of a second. It usually stays there for 10 seconds. Furthermore, upon turning on the Puter and GIVING it an Input, the light goes green but the screen stays totally black.

Now, I have 2 options: Fix this Monitor, with the help of the people here who might be able to help, or buy a new one.
I'd either like help or suggestions on a good Monitor within the price range of 0-300$.

Many Thanks!

random question and maybe obvious.
have you tried leaving the monitor off, turning on pc then turning on monitor?
(as in off off, not standby)
or unplug the monitor turn on the pc then plug in the monitor?

When the PC is on does not matter.
The Monitor itself refuses to turn on (I.E. have the NO INPUT sign flash for more than a second/backlight turning on).
Neither of these happens, and yes, I've done very which way of turning the PC on/Monitor on at different times.

If the monitor refuses to turn on, then how can "no input" appear on the screen? I had the same problem with my old monitor, I found unplugging the connections to the monitor and pc and plugging back in eventually worked. Anyway, theres plenty of monitors out there for under 300, my trusted brand is samsung, second to that i choose acer for a budget.

I'd also check out your video card just to make sure all connections are good and all that. More than likely you need to replace the monitor anyway, but it is good to be as certain as possible before you shell out any money.

sounds like a video card problem. you may need new drivers or a new card all together, or the interface cable is bad. or the worse case possible you need a new monitor.
