I am such a procrastinator in many areas of life, but it is especially noticeable when t comes to school. I would appreciate it if you were to share your secrets of how to not procrastinate on assignments and homework.

If you say to do your work as soon as you get home, then that won't work.

If you say do your work early so you have time for other things later, then that won't work either.

Any other advice or tricks you may use would be greatly appreciated.

I should be noted that I am in college, and I do not drink energy drinks of any kind, and I will not.

I also have mild ADD and have trouble concentrating on anything for a long period of time.

Well, the strategy I use is basically take care of the things I must do when I have free time... Another thing that could help is use sticky notes... Just paste them in some place you can see them, and you'll remember about the work you must do.

If you wanted to you could try a reward system(only if you have the willpower to stick with it) such as 30 minutes to an hour of vizzed per class of homework done, or one reply to a text per problem done. This method is basically what I do on days with a medium amount of homework.

I use a planner, and I write all the things I need to do on that.  Even on that, I still procrastinate.  It's such a bad habit of mine.  I should probably find out some more ways how to not procrastinate.

I trick myself into thinking my due dates are sooner than they are. Let's say I have an assignment due Wednesday the 10th. Well now, it's due Monday the 8th in my head. I convince myself of this and then I 'procrastinate' until the 'last minute' and quick rush to get it done. Then take a sign of relief because it's not actually due yet and maybe I can refine it a little (since I took the effort to work on it anyway, might as well finish) then hand it in proper.

I tend to procrastinate a lot if my work seems overwhelming.  Therefore, I only take out some of it at a time and pretend like the rest doesn't exist.  For example, if I have six assignments to grade, I'll just pull out ONE and work on that one only.

Yeah I have tons of work to do in school and it basically takes up most of the day fro me to do, especially my AP human geography class, in the beginning of the year we were given sections of textbook pages to read and we would have a quiz on them everyday and it was really a lot of stuff to cram into one night's worth of time. But know we are winding down to the end of the year and we are going to go into SOL review mode which is easy, but I do have an end of year exam for AP Human geography that cost 81 dollars and I really want to pass it or else the entire year and the money was for nothing! Anyway back on topic, the only way I get all of my work done is to do it early, like I do it on the night it is assigned so I don't have to be bothered with thinking about it later. I put all the stuff I need to do for school in the week to keep track of it. I hope this helps and I hope you feel more motivated to do better in school!

I have the worst advice. Not because it doesn't work but because it is not fun. PRIORITIZE!!! Now I don't mean if I do this then I can do that, that only works if you don't have problems with procrastination. I am part of multiple websites: Howrse, Vizzed, Mabinogi, Unicreatures, etc. So what I do is: OK for goodies I only need to get on Mabinogi every Saturday so that is the ONLY time I can get on it. Howrse needs me on every day for about half an hour so I will do what is needed then I will get off before a certain time OR as the last thing in the day. Unicreatures isn't as important because even though I should log on every hour, I have most of the eggs and there are no limited editions. Vizzed wants me to log on every day but it is so tempting to go goof off so I can't be on it until after all projects are done.

In conclusion: Unless it is vital that you do something at a certain time NEVER do something else while you have something due. It makes for a very boring life but you do not have to repeat as many classes.

Along with what everyone else has already said, learning to multi-task is pretty important as well. Some things require 100% of your concentration, others don't.

You should always have a book handy while you are... umm... occupying the restroom.

Instead of watching the baseball game(go tribe!), I listen on the radio. Meanwhile I am cleaning or writing.

While I am reading a book, I will sometimes be leveling up in some game.  Helps if it's a turn-based RPG of course....

When I was in school, I tended to have the T.V. on at the same time, or listen to the radio. During the commercials, I would be like... I can do some my homework. By the time the show comes back on, I will have some of my work done. It actually worked.

I am going to be a complete hypocrite because I always put coursework and homework (I could do it in class back in secondary school but I can't at college so I am not really in the habit of doing it) off because it is just plain boring and to be honest I have better things to do, but here we go do as I say not as I do.

1. You should try to restrict your self with games, money, vizzed and junk food until you do the work, If you can not do this ask your parents to limit it for you until you get the work done.

2. You should also try to reward your self for getting it done early for example extra time doing this or extra money (if your parents agree) to spend on that.

3. The final thing you could do is to try to take a 10 min break for every 20 min of work you do, although it will take some self discipline to go back to the work but it will make it more bearable.

Lock yourself somewhere in your house where there is no distraction, bring your studying materials only, and be sure that you're really determined to study! I used to study in our attic or in my bathroom when I had some problems at focusing on my studies. I don't do it anymore since I now have a better self control compared from before.

I just do what ever I need to. If I need to do it later, I would put an online sticky note, on your desktop, because I would know I will be on the internet.

Just always remind yourself and set reminders on everything put it on a calendar just get it down and get started early. If you get it done early then you won't have to worry about it later and you won't have to stress out about it the day before it is due, never get into that habit. Set time aside each day and really focus and get serious about getting it done and you will find that if you pace yourself you will get a lot done. Set a goal for yourself to finish the assignment and get it done, work everyday until you get it done and motivate yourself to finishing it and achieving your goal and in the end you will feel good about it. Mae it a top priority and put it number 1 on your list of things to do and don't delay, get it DONE! And most importantly just do it, nothing is more important than letting your grades at school suffer when you had adequate time to do something.

Procrastinating is something I'm horrible at. I try to stay motivated, and I remind myself constantly that I have something to do. I'm good at getting work done when I dive right into it, however if I'm not immediately doing it, I find it hard to get started on. Make sense?
Anyways, I just remind myself over and over of what I have to do until it annoys me, like a little buzzer going off in my head, then I get to work on whatever it is. But even then, I still squeeze things in last minute.

When it comes to school work and preventing yourself from procrastinating, my best advice is to stay at school as long as you can. If you can keep yourself from all the common distractions(PC/video games, Cell phone, etc.) and go to the school's library to study(yeah that is what it SHOULD be used for and I don't know of a school without one), it ought to help you focus on your school work. Basically what I;m saying is to not give yourself a REASON to procrastinate. If you go home, you'll find things more appealing to do, such as getting on here and playing games.
