I was writing a review of Spyro the Dragon for the PSX, and showed it to my friends about a week after I posted it here. One of my friends said that the term PSX was incorrect, and I decided to do some research on it. And here's what I found:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSX_%28DVR%29

The website is from a wikipedia page, but you can just google "PSX" and find the same thing. This got me thinking. I thought the term PSX was as correct as using PS1, and since I grew up with the beloved hunk of grey, I thought I could show my affections for it as such. The term is also used in the Beta Game Room "Your own psx = free play" Is it wrong to use the term PSX for the PS1? Or does it really matter in the first place?

Darkpower508 : As far as I know the PSX was a totally different console in Japan. This unit was a combined PS1 and PS2. It's own full fledged console with a built in DVR. This has somehow gotten confused in internet land as being the same thing as PS1. (Just as people do the same for the Famicom and NES)

The most common abbreviation of Playstation is PSX (even IGN abbreviates it that way). However, the official abbreviation is PS.
