Best way to make a remake?

What is the best way to remake old-gen Pokémon games according to you?
Accurate is where it's at.

Maybe a few new events thrown in here and there could help.

Keep the base storyline, but add a lot of new, interesting events.

Something doesn't need changing? Change it anyways!

Precisely what the title says. Do you want remakes to be the same game on a new engine or have plenty of new life breathed into it with new events? Personally, as shown in my remake, Pokémon CrystalDust, I like remakes to be accurate until the main game is done. Then extra events are perfectly fine.

I think Pokemon Remakes should keep the same exact storyline but they can have a lot of new, interesting and challenging events.

SuperGameBoy1 : Heh, I think that was actually one of the options above.
