f*** TWILIGHT!!!

Seriously... I refuse to read the book, had have done so ever since I found out the plot, or lack thereof. Sparkly vampires committing indecent acts with a minor? This is popular? And the fans... oh my f***ing gods I HATE the fans. All I hear is "Edward, Edward, Edward... I love Edward... I am changing my last name to Cullen... Bella doesn't deserve Edward...." On and on and on! While it is encouraging to see that apparently anyone can get published these days there really are some people that shouldn't be, and Stephanie Meyer is one of them.

GAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I've been holding that in for awhile.

So I was having a discussion today with one of my friends who, tragically, is a self-proclaimed "Twitard" and even she admits the books are poorly written and that the movie is dumb. She was explaining some of the things to me about how these sparkly vampires function and I noted two major things:

1) She ripped off Loius from Anne Rice's novels (eat animals so they won't have to eat humans)
2) She ripped off powers from the World of Darkness RPGs... only she gave powers from Werewolf: The Apocalypse to the Vampires.

She went to a release party for the movie I guess, and was tripped out and disgusted by all the tweens there who were very much the people I hate (and hadn't read the books even). Apparently one of the mom's threatened her because she caught her cheating so her daughter could win a poster or something. It's f***ing scary.

I guess I can see why its popular...well, why Edward is popular. I didn't read the book, but I thought the movie was terrible-very hard to watch. It was creepy and unsettling, and I didn't think the two had very good chemistry either. And why do girls fall for these mysterious, creepy types anyway? pisses me off.

Edward wears make up and the movie was terribly made. The book also sucked. I heard the author wrote it after a dream. Who dreams about sparkling vamps?

I've read all 4 books and I've seen the movie and I enjoyed them. Not because there is anything particularly special about them, I just enjoyed the story. I'm a sucker for werewolves and vampires in any form.

I enjoyed the twist on the story that was used. It's nothing original to have "vegetarian" vampires (Buffy!).... and werewolves being part of an indian tribe does sound very familiar to me but I can't come up with the source for that either.

I agree that the fans are ridiculous, but the uber fans of anything are really annoying. I mean look at Star Wars, Star Trek, D&D, etc etc..... sure we might all be fans of those things but aren't you a little embarresed by the people that dress up for that sort of stuff? Maybe I'm just not the type to go all out for any series that I've enjoyed....

I will say that the movie isn't very good without having read the books first. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense without them. To each their own honestly.... there have been some movies, books, etc that people have recommended to me and I watched/read and thought... "wtf am I wasting my time on this for?" It seems like Twilight is one of those things that you either liked it or you didn't at all.... very little middle ground.

I agree with you totally Elara! I hate Twilight! I haven't read the books, and I haven't seen the movie, but my friends that have heard about the certain parts of Twilight and told them to me, and agree with me totally about how dumb it is! I already gave a rant about this before sort of, but what's worse, my NIECE likes the books! NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! But at least she didn't like the movie! Or that's what shesaid, but I'm not clear on this as my brother and her did the old "But you said you loved this!" "I didn't say that!" "Yes you did!" "No I didn't!" "Yes you did!" "No I didn't!" "Yes you did!" "No I didn't!" routine last time I was over at their house, so I don't know for sure. She didn't dwell on it while I was over, (THANK GOD!) but still I know she likes it, and I can only hope and pray, that I don't get suckered into watching the film whenever she get's it. (I've been suckered into watching some films I sworn never to watch a few times already.) But I think chances are she won't, but you never know. *SHUDDER SHUDDER* But sort of in relation to this subject, my book that I'm going to have published is coming along fine, and I thought of a title! So I hope you guys read it when I get it published, I'll give information on it once it's done.

Werewolves and Indians being linked is almost straight from the World of Darkness RPG Werewolf: The Apocalypse... they are very tribal in that game.

Honestly, I know Trekkies and Star Wars geeks and D&D players that are that into the series and they are nowhere near as annoying as the Twitards are. They might criticize you a bit for getting some info wrong, but they are helpful. And if you say you don't like it they don't attack you. I should know, as I am a major D&D nerd and I own a uniform from Star Trek: Voyager. I'd only dress up if going to a convention or a LARP or something, but I've had friends that wore their Starfleet uniform to school and it wasn't embarrassing at all.

Apparently there is a Rifftrax out for Twilight. Rifftrax, for those that do not know, are made by the same guys that did MST3K, only now they make fun of real movies. My boyfriend and I made a deal with our Twitard friend that if she pays for the download we will watch the Rifftrax with her. It's the only way you are getting me to watch that movie.

I'm kind of late on this subject, but there was a real, real funny youtube video review on the books, pretty funny stuff, and also points out certain things that I don't think anyone else noticed. Note, I haven't read the books, but my gosh, after watching the video review, brother!

How dumb can these books get!??! Not to mention this also doesn't really help the authoress none to much I think. Want to know what I mean? I'll go over the things that stick out in my mind.

1. The nick names, or rather one nick name, which made me laugh like crazy, even though it's really insulting, I can't help but laugh at it now because of the clip that the girl showed! Can't remember her profile name for the life of me, but she was good. I think the nickname, was spider monkey, monkey spider, can't remember which, but it was something along those lines, and what clip did she use to show what it made her think of?
"How did it got on the ceiling?"
"Spider-pig, Spider-pig, does what ever a Spider-Pig does!" That's a scene from The Simpsons Movie! And what made it funny for me was that fact my nephew told me about that scene where Homer has the pig walking on the ceiling.

2. The talking about statues really got my attention. I think it's ok to say, as a matter of fact it is ok to say someone has rock hard abs as that is a real good compliment as it's saying someone has real strong muscles. But this woman took it in a completely and somewhat disturbing direction. She pretty much described Edward as a living statue pretty much, how weird is that? I was pretty creeped out really.

So that's what really stuck out in my head. And by the, I've reached one hundred posts!

Yeah, I agree with you. I don't get what people get from this series. It's the same for the people that go crazy for Harry Porthole, or wait I mean Harry Potter. It drives me crazy when people say that edward is hot, yeah if your a lesbian. He looks like a girl, seriously though. He's just missing a training bra and lipstick. Oh well, whatever floats their boat.

well Magus basically said NOTHING

and while I don't quite agree with how much you guys disliked it I will agree that many many people don't deserve to be published.... however, I think the millions of people that bought the book disagree with you. It doesn't make you wrong it just means that they found a very large market that enjoyed the product. Not everyone wants to read a particularly well written but difficult to read book. Some people really enjoy taking the time to read a "fluffy" book like Twilight.

ive both read the book and seen the movie. I have to agree with u about the movie their wasnt a very good plot and another thing is their wasnt any excitement, the actors all did a really bad job(i think). I'm sorry, but I've done a ridiculous amount of research on this series, and read excerpts. It reads like a twelve-year-old's fan-fiction of an Anne Rice novel. ._. And it panders to the oh-so-popular vampire and werewolf demographic. It's overdone. The series is grossly overrated. I'm sick of seeing Twilight plastered all over the stores and everywhere on my internet.

One of my friends brought the movie over and had us watch it at my sister's house. I almost died when Edward snapped at Bella about his sparkly skin being "the flesh of a monster!" I ALMOST f***ING DIED. I thought I would explode with feebly-contained hysterics. I was relieved, however, when the movie did not include Bella's PASSING OUT when Edward kissed her. Or her heart stopping. Because then I would have just been angry. ANGRY. But I will be happy to know that I'll probably never have to watch that movie ever again and take it seriously.

Y'know why the acting was bad? The lead actors hated their roles. Hated them. So that's how they played them. And wouldn't you know it? The movie was ridiculously successful anyway, because the Twitards sold it out to satiate their terrifying addiction. I hate the way Mr. Pattinson looks in that role. I think they made him up like a tool. I also don't know where "he looks like a girl" came from, 'cause that is one hell of a manly jaw for a girly-boy. =/

But I digress, this is more about the books than the one movie that's out right now. Yes, the books are stupidly popular, but that doesn't say anything about the quality of the book. A book can be an easy read without being positively horrible. SMeyer didn't accomplish that. She kind of stepped on literature, and the popularity of that among our preteens only proves that today's youth is even worse off than we realize. I mean, really, can you say we're on the road to a good, intellectual future when millions of screams cry out "f*** U TWILIGHT IS THE BEST BOOK EVAR!!!1!!!111!" when one person bravely says "I didn't like it. I thought the writing was terrible and the plot in bad taste"?

Now I'm going to have to go hunting for those parodies that Shinga wrote and posted on her livejournal. ._. They were really funny.

Really? I just thought the actors couldn't act, period. All the girl did was(Sorry, don't know the actresses name.) just say her lines, and when she was supposed to be scared, she just made her pitch a little higher. Now I did NOT watch the movie! I would rather die or be eaten by a real vampire before I watch that garbage! But as I said before, I watched a video review a girl did on the books and movie, and there was another thing that really got my attention, was in one scene, (Can't remember which exactly.) and the father talked with a teenage speak, and I mean he said something like, "You da man, son!" or something like that. I think that even though these things stick out in my mind somewhat, they're so horrible that I can't remember every detail, which is probably a good thing.
