I was so excited when this game came out and I got it for christmas. Once I got it I immediately played it and was impressed by its wonderful graphics and great music. Best of all, Sega finally made Sonic look good, and did not make him look like a fool like in Sonic Unleashed or Sonic 2006. You switch between classic Sonic and Modern Sonic and you can tell which style of gameplay each has to offer. Classic Sonic is small and is a more brighter blue then modern Sonic, his style of gameplay is 2D platforming, and once you play him, you will be transported in your mind back in the 90s were the first Sonic came out. Classic Sonic has only a spindash as a power but that's okay because he does not need anymore ability's. Modern Sonic is of course dark blue, taller, and has 3D platforming as his style of gameplay. The sense of speed is INSANE, and he has a few extra abilities like boost, and the homing attack. Each of the characters can have a few extra abilities bought at a little store.
STORY C-: The story of this game is one of the most rushed things I have ever heard of, but it is what I expected. Sonic is enjoying his birthday and then all the sudden a mysterious beast appears and starts to suck all of Sonic's friends back in time. Sonic gets sucked in as well and has to restore the timeline by going through his past memories. He meets his younger self in the middle of his trip and they start to work together to restore the time balance.
GAMEPLAY A-: Each of the Sonic's gameplays are fun and enjoyable. There is only one problem with modern Sonic. He seems to be doing a lot of 2D stuff when that's what classic Sonic should be doing. A lot of people want that freedom with modern Sonic, and people expect 3D gameplay with him not 2D. Other then that the gameplay is great and anybody will enjoy it.
GRAPHICS A+: The lush scenery and good looking characters are just waiting to be seen. Every level looks amazing. Especially Green Hill zone, which was in the 1st game if you did not know. Whats even cooler is that this game is capatable with 3D glasses and I got to experience this and it was just amazing.
SOUND A+: Not only do you get remastered versions of the awesome Sonic songs, but you unlock new songs that you can play during the levels. I'll tell you that I listened to them all and they are a joy to listen to.
ADDICTIVENESS A: I was pretty addicted to this game. The amount of unlockable stuff in this game makes it even more addicting.
DEPTH D: The only major problem with this game is how much it has to offer. Their might be a lot of challenges and unlockable secrets. The amount of real levels is small and their is very few boss stages. Their are only 9 different levels with 2 acts in each of them.
DIFFICULTY Medium easy: The game is pretty easy, until you get to the modern stages and then it gets a little hard. Even though the difficulty is easy. The challenges are not, you might be spending more time on a challenge then on a level.
OVERALL RATING: A- or 9.0
