I need suggestions. My computer freezes completely while watching videos or while playing a flash game and recently Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne, forcing me to hard shut down and reboot. I had it scanned for viruses, got no threats, and I used a registry cleaner, but it didn't help.

Comp specs:
Gigabyte 8I865GME-775 motherboard
Pentium 4 Prescott 3.20Ghz
768 MB of ram
96 MB graphics controller with 3D/Direct-X support
Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1

hoguan : Well I can tell you that right off the bat your Ram and Graphics card are very outdated (No Offense) so depending on what games you are trying to play or what videos you are watching, they are probably freezing up due to taking up too many of your computers resources.

Heck unless there is a typo in your ram figure you don't even have enough ram to run Vista well. You need at least a gig for Vista to run decently and really you should have more than that.

What videos are you trying to watch? Are they streamed from the web, or on your hard drive/disk?

Jordanv78 : It freezes up while I'm watching online videos, and my graphics are updated. Also, it's not a ram problem. I had no problems until recently.

hoguan : Yea you need more ram. 2GB is the LEAST amount to run vista(your motherboard only supports 2GB, DDR-400 is what is uses). Also you can find a cheap AGP 8x card maybe less than $40.00.

To be honest, that computer is severely outdated. Depending on your budget you can make a decent CPU for under 500 even 400. But some people cant afford to build a new PC , I do gotta say I just bought a PC on eBay from my mother, really good specs for $50.00 shipped. Dual core and came with a PCI-E VGA card. Might want to look into that.

Also to ANYONE that has issues when there wasn't any before, Do a good Cleaning on your computer, Physically and Software wise.

1. Run your antivirus
2. Run super anti-spyware (or whatever you use)
3. Run Malawarebytes (whichever one you use for malware)
4. Do a Disk Cleanup, Check Mark all boxes that come up.(its in your Start menu- Accessory's - System tools- and its right there)
5. Run Disk De-fragment (same place as Disk cleanup)
6. Download Defraggler - Run that, really good program I use it on all my computers.
7. Update All drivers. Except Video drivers (if that's part of an issue)
8. Un install your video card drivers, Let windows find the new drivers. Then download the new ones from your video cards site (ATI or Nvidia)

Now see if your having the same issues. If so let me know your complete system specs and I will try to help you out. I do IT work for a living I am willing to help for free for me fellow gamers

The graphics card is what's causing the problem, it needs more memory. Try upgrading your RAM as well.

your computer is almost certainly thrasing, its spending all its time moving data from virtual memory to ram that it isnt actualy making much, if any progress.
Do what others have suggested, buy at least 2gb ram, 4 is the best option to ensure smooth running though(without spending too much money).
Also, that graphics card is pants, you need a better one.
Im kinda surprised its got a half decent processor yet a poor graphics card and ram, clearly it wasnt designed for gaming.

*winces* I personally question how you even get your computer to start up with specs like that. RAM is an absolute must - and to have a computer with less than 2GB in today's society (especially with Vista and up) is just plain loony... no offense intended.

You're going to have to upgrade the hardware on your computer, plain and simple. If you were not having issues originally, then you do need to do a Disk Clean-Up and a Disk Defrag... but upgrading your hardware is still the absolute priority.

My laptop was $880 total - tax and all included. These are the specs:
Quad Core i7 Intel Processor
8 GB RAM
750 GB Harddrive
Intel Graphics HD
Windows 7 Home Premium

It's not that much to upgrade - especially if you're only upgrading certain parts. Namely, you really need more RAM and better Graphics.

shinymaster990 : What are your specs? And try cleaning your computer. From the way you type, you're not very old so I imagine you probably don't know how to. What type of computer do you run? Is it Windows or another Operating System?

Ktanaqui : Hey, I was running Windows 8 just fine with only 2 GB of RAM, so I don't want to hear that!

...Of course it was seriously effecting my ability to play games effectively, so I had to upgrade.

Lazlo Falconi : Yeah sure, you can run the OS just fine but if you try to run anything else, it gets really laggy.
