Overall:
This Zelda is the best of all of them.  Among the first RPG game I played on Nintendo 64 over a decade ago, it is still as addictive now as it was then.  There are times I do not want to stop.  While, compared to modern-day games, the graphics seem crude, for its time, Zelda was cutting edge.  Even today, it is hard to beat this game for style and performance.  Despite the fact that I am using a keyboard to play this in an emulator, I still persist in working my way through the scenarios.  This is why I rate this one a solid 10 overall for Retrogames.

Graphics:
Graphics, by the standard of the early 2000's, this is the best there is.  Despite the rough-looking facial features of the characters in the close-up shots, the Ocarina of Time has some outstanding 3D images on the screen.  Nintendo sure did have their act together when they wrote the software for this one!

Sound:
The music in Zelda, The Ocarina of Time is original and very light-hearted when it needs to be and dark and brooding when the scenes include danger.  Having the player get involved in the music also serves to add a dimension to the game that no other game I've ever played has.  There are so many places that the Ocarina comes into play.

Addictiveness:
There is no other game quite as addicting as this one.  Even at my advance age (haha) I seem to geet lost in the game.  I think any RPG player needs to give this one a try.  Of course, be patient with the keyboard controls -- the game was designed for a Nintendo controller.

Storyline:
This Zelda flows along nicely and all ages are able to figure out the way the story goes.  The addition of little video clips adds to the game nicely.  There are plenty of "side" stories to get involved with that enhance a player's experience.  The arcade games that pay off with little bonuses are a real plus.  There are plenty of oddities in the game, too.  (Try hitting the one-eyed stones with your sword a few times!)

Depth:

There are way too many side trips to go into in this report.  Suffice it to say that this Zelda has plenty to keep one occupied for days on end.  The sequel to this game (Majora's Mask) took this too far and, in my opinion, made that game not as playable.  Ocarina of Time was, and still is, Nintendo's best game.

Difficulty:
Well, if a 56 year old man can get through this game, anyone can!  While the battles can be challenging, they are not overly difficult.  The game provides you with an assistant that gives you hints as to how to defeat the dungeon bosses and even the more difficult to kill creatures.  I think that Ocarina of Time is just the right difficulty for all ages to play.

A Final Note:
If you want a game that will challenge you, amuse you and even, at times, frustrate you to just the right level -- try Zelda: The Ocarina of Time!

Great game really loved the way it played and the graphics weren't too bad at all, not a bad play at all, everyone should give it one try at some point, it least once, great game overall, just not a 5 out of 5 though.

Anubris :

Thank you for the feedback.  I have always liked Zelda Ocarina of Time.  So, I guess I'm biased about it.  Still, everyone who plays it comes away with a bit of enjoyment.  For its day, it was the very best and a very popular game.  Even now, here on Vizzed, it is popular.

A wonderful review for a wonderful game. So much of my childhood revolved around this game, and I have so many wonderful memories of it. Though I lost my copy when I was still in elementary school, I still found myself humming Zelda's Lullaby and Epona's Song 8 years later. Having not heard them in that entire time, and the emotional memory being so strong that I was able to hum them perfectly after all that time really says something about a game's music.

Though it may not be a PERFECT game, it certainly is the game on which Nintendo based all their other (good) Zelda games off of afterwards. A balanced difficulty curve, captivating environments, memorable characters and moments. It was overall an amazing game, and still is by my standard, polygonal graphics and all!

Edit: Though, a tiny correction to your review, Zelda really isn't a RPG. Rather it's an Action/Adventure game. The only actual RPG element in any Zelda game came in the leveling system in Zelda 2 where you had to gain XP. Though an easy mistake to make I fault you not for it.
