Alright so, I've been enjoying Breath of Fire 2 for about a week now and my adventure has come to a screeching halt. It seems as though the game is either glitched or unfinished because at HighFort (Castle a la monkeys), after a boss battle, the game cuts off and goes back to the title screen. At first I thought the game was being witty (I had never played BoF2 before) because Metal Gear Solid 2 done something similar. But when I got to the that part where it asked me to load my game I realized that it was not a gimmick and I will not be able to finish this game. I'm a little sad, yes, but it's not the biggest problem in the world. I just hope this somehow gets resolved so some one else wont have this issue. If nothing can be done, that's fine, at least put up a warning. "Please keep in mind that game shuts down in the middle. Play at your own risk!" Or whatever floats your boat.

Have you tried in a different browser and have the same problem?

This problem makes no sense to me other than it's probably due to the game being played through a browser.

tRIUNE : It does not seem as though changing the browser helped the issue... I wish there was more that I could do but alas I know it is a lost hope. lol Thanks for your help! =]

I'll be sure to note a disclaimer on the game page about this, do you happen to have a save state before the boss battle? If so, you can upload it to http://www.sendspace.com/ and post here the link to the file so I can check it out myself.

RGR save files can be accessed on your PC by going to Start Menu > All Programs > Vizzed Retro Game Room > Open Plugin Data Folder > User-142894 > VBA > Saves.

In that folder look for a file with the name Breath of Fresh Fire 2 (v1.0-rev1).sgm, that's the save state that I will be able to use on my local emulator for this, thanks.

Aww that really sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. That's one of the biggest reasons I don't play hacked titles. A lot of them are buggy unfinished or somehow else unplayable.

I have found a few things that talk about the ORIGINAL game this was hacked from crashing and going back to the world map after random battles because of some issue with the emulators sound processor but I'm not too sure that's the problem you are having.

I've been busy, sorry... I have your save state loaded on my local emulator now, which is before a warp point - but I don't know what to do from there. I could figure it out, but I also have to test the battle on my local emulator and the RGR Plugin, which means I have to finish the battle twice... could you give a short walkthrough how to get to the battle from that save, or simply upload a new save state directly before the battle if possible?

Alright so I re-save stated right before the battle. I know I'm being redundant but- press F4 and walk straight up the stairs that the party is facing. You are walking straight into a cut scene that leads to the boss battle. When the battle menu pops up just press "Auto" and hold down the fast forward button to speed through the fight. The dialogue that follows will lead to the games "end".

I figured out the problem, the hack is complete but the problem is with rom itself that the patch was applied to. So I had to use this cheat code: 030057F0:00 which can't be input with the RGR Plugin. I uploaded the save state that won't reset:

Place the file in the VBA Saves folder (it'll ask if you want to replace the existing file, choose yes) and load up the save with F4.

Not a problem, glad I was able to figure it out. I just hope there aren't other parts in the game that have that problem lol.
