I was browsing some of the topics on the top here and I just so happened to pass the D-Pad Hero thread and then remembered something that I always like to tell people about whenever I get to a new gaming forum, or hell, just anytime that I know someone who I think might be into the idea.

A demake is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. While a remake takes an older game and makes it new, a demake is the very opposite.. developers take a new game and make it... old again. The great developers site TIG Source decided to hold a competition, and that spawned a great number of them, all coming together at once.

An added challenge was the subtitle in the name there... they had to be bootlegged, this makes it ultra-delicious for anyone who knows anything about rom hacks or the real bootleg games that existed during the run of the NES. There's some great games there, including;

- A fully functional Team Fortress 2 2D game called Gang Garrison II.

- Point & click Silent Hill called Noiseless Mound.

- Dead Rising redone in 2D as WARNING! Zombie Mall.

Of course, some are a bit better than others.. but even the ones that play poor compared to others.. there's at least a good concept there. Just thought I'd spread the idea to people who may not have heard of it.

Cheers.
