This time around, my battery is totally freaked. On power saver, after i just unpluged from being fully charged, it has only 57 minutes. And, my laptop fan is ALWAYS blowing. Before it would blow out air for about 5 seconds then wait for about 3 then blow for 5. Now it always blows out hot air. And it also overheats all the time now. I'm being forced to use....*gulp*....the family desktop. I hate desktops!!!!!!

I kind of hate laptops. I'm using one right now. It's in my lap.

I dunno what to say. My desktop fan is annoying. I plan to start upgrading my computer over the next few months, and I'm definitely going to replace my fan at some point. And possibly get another one. It hasn't actually overheated ever (that I'm aware of) but I always worry that it will.

Are you letting your laptop lay down on a flat surface? If so, f***ing stop it.

Take 2-3 small lengthy pieces of wood/plastic or whatever and put underneath it so that the bottom of the lappy is raised maybe 5-10 millimeters off the ground. This makes it so that air flows underneath it and helps a lot with overheating issues.

I never did it.

My dad took my laptop to Best Buy, where my warrinty is at, and it turns out that not only is the battery gone to heck, but my fan is freaked. Yeah, my fan is dead.

It will take at LEAST 2 WEEKS FOR IT TO BE FIXED!!!!!!!!


Luckily, my brother is great. He's letting my borrow his laptop until i get mine back. He's really a great big bro. Too bad he's also an epic ass. But anyways, his laptop is only 60 gigs. That's as much as an HP Mini 1000 netbook HDD model. So, his LAPTOP is as good as a NETBOOK. That's bad. At least i have something to use lol. M


I hope that my laptop doesn't have to be replaced, even though the viruses would be gone forever.

DM, i always have my laptop on my lap and have the main thingy(ya know the little holes on the bottom of the laptop that sucks in air to blow air out of the fan? That's what i'm talking about) always open so that wouldn't be the problem. Thank you though.

If you have your laptop laying directly in your lap then all the heat from the laptop goes to your lap, which is already warm, so not as much heat goes out from the laptop.

If you have it so that air flows around the bottom, then all the heat goes into the air, which can absorb more heat and as such your whole laptop will be cooler.

It's where air goes into the laptop from little holes in the bottom.Hot air blows out of the laptop from a little fan in the side. A friend of mine has a laptop and the charger also works for my bros laptop. So, he let me borrow it. But, he's going on vacation so he needs it this time tomarrow. It sucks, but i can use a laptop for about 24 hours. That's better than nothing.He was using IE and i hate IE so i downloaded Chrome...i hope he doesn't mind lol

ihave CPU issis too but i just sorta cleand my CPU that helps a bit

Dust is a real problem here, I'm always cleaning my front great because of all the dust it gathers.

I dont think laptops have any troubles being on a flat surface, like a table, unless your doing high processing powered stuff.

The battery and fan dying could have been the result of an over heating... I've killed a LCD monitor from over heating before

Point, but not having it on a flat surface is a simple precaution that helps, a lot.

This is an old thread. My computer is fixed. The problem was some components came loose. It had always been like that. My computer has always been messed up.

They did find a good bit of dust though.
