2 reasons. Wii games are still in production and more particularly, profit circulation. Cutting into Nintendo's profit can tick them off and cause them to decide to demand everything in their copyright to be taken down. So goodbye all NES, GameBoy, GBC, GBA, SNES, N64 games.

Second, disc games are too large. It would stream far too much information and crash the server every time a small number of people played disc games. Getting a server with the bandwidth capable of handling all that streaming would cost a fortune.
