It sorta isnt bad word's in the names but parents started to notice and it was called inappropriate names which nintendo didn't know at the time so they then added a function to 5th gen gts to not make those pokemon tradable without an nickname. No nickname means they can't be traded.

Unless the Pokémon has an offensive nickname then you should not be able to trade it, Forcing people to change the name of certain Pokémon (Its original name) is stupid! I looked up most of the Pokémon that they require a nickname and the reason they require a nickname is stupid! Pokémon like: Cofagrigus, Conkeldurr, Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur , Sharpedo, Croconaw, Nosepass, Probopass, Froslass, Marshtomp, Skuntank Have to have a nickname because their name has an offensive word in it? Most little kids don't even know what the bad word means, they can barely pronounce the Pokémon's name right, and you have to be deliberately looking for the words to spot them.
