marriage can be called whatever. Civil union, handfasting, etc. But guess what? it's all still marriage. the joining of two people.

They aren't giving up anything. They're redefining it. As it has been mentioned before, things are redefined all the time. Perhaps it may not be redefined for a Church's view, but I believe that they have the right not to host a wedding that may involve homosexuals.

but, at least in Canada, the fight is being made, by the opposition conservative party, for a civil union solution.... I just don't see the problem people have with this.... it makes the most sense

I probably put that as my answer... only because it most closely resembles my true feelings about the subject

I don't approve of homosexuality. But those that are this way doesn't bother me. But that has nothing to do with this, or does it? The discussion started with the topic "Is homosexuality wrong or not?" and now it's all about the marriage issue. Well, I'll address both and then I'm leaving this forum. I've got things in my life to think about that, right now, are more important than this forum. So just to let you know, me leaving has nothing to do with this topic.

Anyways, "I don't approve of homosexuality" to quote myself. "But those that are this way doesn't bother me." If your gay, I'm not going to yell at you, push you around or kill you or whatever. There's a gay kid in my high school and he's one of the most popular people there. There are people there who don't like him and there are tons of people who love being around him. The only time anyone ever brings up him being gay is in some comment they say to make him laugh. Everyone's accepted the way he is and he has no problem with people calling him gay. My point is, what you think about it doesn't matter because it's going to happen.

As for gay marriage...I strongly disapprove of this. This is something I'd be willing to vocally(sp?) fight against. It takes the meaning out of it and if "my side" lost the fight. I just wouldn't get married. It's my decision and I'm not being a cry baby for losing or whatever. But if something has lost it's meaning, or if something has a completly different meaning than what it's supposed to be for you then there's no point in it for you. I don't feel like examples, but without being thick-headed(not meant to be rude) anyone could come up with something completely unrelated to this subject yet still fits what I just described.

To sum up:

1) I don't like the concept of homosexuality, but if you gay...fine, I don't have a problem with you.

2) I will not stand for gay marriage, or if I can't do anything about it I won't get married.

"I have loved ringette for as long as I can remember. From the first time I laced up the skates and shot the ring into the net with my trusty ringette stick I have loved the game. Thousands of people just like me love ringette. In fact, the game is played by 3% of the Canadian population.

No one stops me from playing ringette. My team and I can play and book ice in any rink in Canada. No one bothers us. We have all the rights that hockey players do, but that's not enough. We demand that the name 'ringette' be changed to 'hockey'.

And why not? We play the game on ice and wear skates. The ice surface is the same size and we love to put the ring into the net as much as hockey players love to put the puck into the net. The rules are similar although the refs don't call 'high sticking' as often in ringette.

It is not fair that the hockey players get all the attention on television and in the newspapers. They get the big salaries and attract the huge crowds. There are high school hockey teams and many leagues in which to play. The government even supports a national hockey team. That's why we want to change the name of ringette to hockey. We not only want equal rights, which we already have, we want our game to be affirmed and celebrated by everyone.

We want teachers in schools, beginning in kindergarten, to teach that ringette is the same as hockey. We want the law and the government to force all Canadians to promote ringette as much as they do hockey. And if they don't, there should be a group of referees to put them into the 'big penalty box'.

Further, anyone who opposes changing the name of ringette to hockey is 'ringaphobic', and therefore must be given sensitivity training. Even though hockey has served the country well over the last hundred years or more, it's time we affirmed the game of ringette as indistinguishable from hockey. To do otherwise would be un-Canadian."

I picked that I don't care. I'm Bisexual personally. I like guys and girls. Never been with a guy but that's just cause I haven't met one I like enough to ask out.

This is the way I look at things. Attraction, love or whaever you want to call it is not restricted by form. I meet a guy that I like, we're friends, we get alon with each other we fall in love. That's exactly the same thing that would happen between a man and a woman.

The physical body be it male or female of ones partner is secondary to the mind and personality behind that body. I have been in love with a woman, she didn't want me. put her mind in a mans body I would still have loved her.

What you people are failing to realize is that your not doing what we were, at the simplest level, put here to do! Reproduce. Its just stupid. There is no point in it. And people who are gay/attracted to the same sex have something wrong with them.

I think there is nothing wrong whatsoever with homosexuals. it's not wrong, it's not right, it just is. It's a matter of preferance. People like who they like, it's how they are born. I myself am bisexual. I didn't choose to be this way, I was just born like that. It sure had nothing to do with the way I was raised either. My parents are straight, mexicans and catholic. So, these people are just who they are, there is nothing wrong with them (or I should say us) at all.

Well congratulations we've done that. What's the world population now? something like 8 billion people? I don't think that the gays, lesbians and bisexuals of the world will put much of a dent in the population growth of the world. Would that they did there's too many damn people already.

Not that those people do not have the right to their lives. My point however is there are a LOT of people. The fact that we're not reproducing isn't going to make much of a difference if any at all.

ok so John you didn't get a single point that I was trying to make. There is nothing wrong with being homosexual, lesbian, or bisexual. Increasing the population isn't really a good idea at the moment, and besides, there are a lot of straight people that never have kids.

Are you saying that someone that never has kids simply because they don't want children has something wrong with them too?

Little fact there John. Homosexuality has been observed in most of the animal species for centuries.
