Who's the better trainer? Personally I think Red could beat Ash any day but what do you guys think? 

Red is by far the best trainer in the Pokemon world. Comparing to the anime and the game is a bit unfair, but the numbers say that Red is very dominant. Ash is nothing compared.

Ash has no idea of types or good strategy, and his Pokemon always manage to lose battles they really shouldn't.

On the other hand, Red has a balanced team of powerful Pokemon and trains in the most dangerous mountain in the Pokemon universe.

I think Red is the better trainer because Red is from the Manga and Ash is from the Anime and plus Manga is better then Anime.

Red is who I think is better than ash. Ash has no strategy he just runs straight in without thinking. Red on the other hand has a strategy it is win all the time...

A lot of you don't have valid points. I know its "Red vs Ash" first of all. His pokemon lose battles they shouldn't? Well, they gotta keep it interesting would you watch knowing ash is constantly winning? Secondly, If ash stuck with his original team or "Best" Team if you will. He'd be amazingly good. And lastly,if you say he doesn't know strategy, look at the battle frontier, Clever on multiple occasions.

Red, definitely. If I recall correctly, Ash has never won in the championships? Haven't watched the show in years, so I can't really remember. Plus, the Red that imagine is the Red in the Pokemon Manga, and he's pretty epic in it. There's no competition between the two, it's Red, Nya~.

MegaRevolution1 : He got screwed over in the sinnoh league by a guy with darkrai and latios ash was the only person in the tournament to defeat the darkrai at the latios though pikachu fell prey to luster purge but latios fell prey to volt tackle so, i give him props. Ash and red are two different things like i said before, Red will never be any better then he is. Ash is gonna constantly improve by traveling.

I think it's Ash Ketchum, not only does he have the durability to go through all the regions. But he beats all the Gym Leaders with his NEW REGION SPECIFIC POKEMON. (Besides Pikachu) While Red only took on one region, and when he became a Champion he just went up into a mountain and gave his mom a scare. And when Gold beats him, he gets all mad and just disappears. But he did come back for the Pokémon World Tournament. Good to know he's getting involved in public again. I like Red but he needs to go through more than just Unova and Kanto.

Not trying to be mean but Ash and red are just made-up characters and Nintendo and/or Game Freak just makes them that way so everyone it doesn't really make sense if u say why but I know how Viz is to you. So its up to you.

I think Red from PokéSpe would defeat Ash. Ash's Pikachu lost to a SNIVY that never battled before. Ash doesn't use strategies, he just improvises. I think that Red's main Pokémon in Rotation (Espeon, Pikachu, Gyarados, Aerodactyl, Venusaur, Poliwrath and Snorlax [There are 7 of his main Pokémon and that's why it's on Rotation]) could defeat Ash's strongest Pokémon. Red was also the only one able to catch Mewtwo and Deoxys was created with his Blood (or DNA, I can't remember.) Red also is the Kanto Champion, something Ash wasn't able to do.

I think Red is way stronger than Ash.

This is why it's only just an opinion thread. Doesn't matter if it's made up or not. If it exists in some form, either fiction or reality, there will be more than likely discussion about it..

On topic, yes Red is better, but Ash is Ash. TBH, the anime itself is 50-50 to me. I mean, I did watch it a lot when I was younger, but that's where it stayed. It's a show that appeals mostly to younger fans (some older, but most young). As compared to Dragonball where I can watch that anytime, but that's getting off-topic no NOPE.

Anyways, I'd like to see a new parallel series that involves Red's journey; a whole new canon. Even if it's just for ONE season, I'd probably consider watching it. Depends on whether or not if they'd make it Kid-friendly or more PG-13.

Red is an amazing trainer and could easily smoke Ash in a battle, I mean the only thing that made Ash even a little good at Pokemon training was the fact that he loved all of his Pokemon and treated them as if they were a family. However, he sees all of these amazingly rare Pokemon on his adventures and never tries to catch any of them, not to mention that the only league he has ever won was the orange islands and all you needed was four badges to even get to their league XD Pokemon are not even real and I think that anyone could be a better trainer than Ash.

This is a no contest, honestly. Red is the most powerful trainer in the world, he has what is possibly the best team in the games and the most overleveled Trainer Pokemon (Lvl 88 Pikachu i believe in HG/SS) in the series. Ash's Pikacuh and team have no hope.

I think red is the better trainer he can evolve his pokemon to the max evolution while ash can barely evolve one pokemon so wouldn't that make red better?

It seems that everyone chooses Red over Ash, but maybe we are not giving ash enough credit? He may not be the champion, He was eliminated because he lost to richie, but he went into that fight with tired Pokémon and a charizard who didn't obey him! Another reason why everyone is choosing red over ash is because ash won't evolve his Pokémon... Well most of the time it's ash's Pokémon who don't want to evolve and that's not his fault.. His Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Pickachu, totodile, corphish, gible, and buizel never evolved because ash wasn't a good trainer, but because they choose not to evolve. Another reason I saw people picking Red over ash is because reds Pokémon are all in their 80's or so, but in the anime we never know exactly what level ashes Pokémon are... Regardless of me trying to defend ash I still think red is a better trainer, just because he uses strategy and relies on himself and his Pokémon while ash on relies on his Pokémon.
