Needless to say, that video has shown me a new outlook on the Pyro itself.I definitely liked the very beginning with the fact that everyone was practically scared of the Pyro, as Pyro cant show emotion, cant speak, and runs around torching people, laughing all the way. When I started watching it, I knew I was going to learn something big, and when the Spy mentioned in curiosity what does the Pyro possibly think while running around within his lunacy, I was really amped up to see as the camera begun to view the goggled eyes of the Pyro.
Then I saw what he sees.
Light grassy fields. Flowers and Rainbows. Balloonicorns. Bongos. Giant Lollipops. And Bubbles. Lots of bubbles. His Flamethrower was a freaking Giant Automatic Bubble Blower in his eyes. All this, is what Pyro sees, while the song 'Do you Believe in Magic' song sang through his joyous skipping through the fields and pathways, going past all the baby-sized team members with average-sized faces.
My jaw dropped. Literally. Of all the things. ALL THE THINGS I was expecting...this was the least expected; And I'm sure many others thought so too. Don't get me wrong, its not that I didn't like it at all, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I was smiling through it all in amazement at what Valve has now depicted what Pyro's personality is.
My thoughts? It gave me thoughts. Many thoughts. After I watched the video a couple times, I began to think on what seeing all that can mean while Pyro kills everything in his path.
At first I thought the Pyro was a maniacal being who enjoys a little bit of both worlds. (As an example, who here would not feel their heart drop to their feet when they see the mad thoughts as you did. Pyro would likely think something like this: "Oh look, a baby Heavy Weapons Guy, how absolutely adorable. Oh, the little one looks hungry, this lollipop should do the trick. Here you go little guy, here's your lollipop, now I'm just going to stick this into your head so you can lick it closer to your mouth for the next few minutes. Enjoy.")
Then I began to think how Pyro could possibly run around killing others while seeing sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, especially when a player is running around as the Pyro. And how would Pyro die in his/her eyes? Would Pyro be smothered by red candy to represent the blood?
Here was a few thoughts that went through my head, thinking what Pyro is like.
~Pyro is a true maniac, killing others while pretending that he/she is simply being kind to all the baby team members. ~Pyro likes to believe he/she is not fighting, rather then being in a world of happiness and without a care in any way. ~Pyro does not like to fight, and blocks it all out by living a fantasy world. ~Pyro has a little child within his/her heart, and lets it out so the feeling of having something can make Pyro happier beyond belief. ~Pyro could be on drugs, seeing everything completely different. ~Previous life experience has caused Pyro's mind to warp, distorting what is real, and what is not. Could explain a bit why he/she is now the Pyromaniac.
All I know is this, there is indeed, more to the Pyro than thought before. And I love it.
