Ha, oops! Edit : I listen to them all even now...

I'm 23 years old going on 24 in 2 months so my childhood bands are much different from what I'm seeing in the replies.

As a Pop music fan I listened to TLC, Britney Spears, Cristina Aguilera, NSync, Backstreet Boys, Hanson, S Club 7, Spice Girls, 98 Degrees, Destinys Child (to name a few) a lot! During that time Pop was the most popular/hip music genre (or at least seemed that way.) That's all you'd hear on every radio station.

Rock bands and other - Boys 2 Men, Aerosmith, U2, Mariah Carey, Savage Garden, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rockelle, Aaliyah, Celiene Dion, The Cure and Depeche Mode were/are some of my favorite musical artists.

I grew up overseas, so the only music I could enjoy on the radio was anything extremely popular in the US.  When I got back to the states, however, I started listening to traditional Classic Rock stations.  The Doors, The Who and Pink Floyd quickly all became regulars on my 1st generation iPod.  I don't listen to these bands that much anymore, but I credit these bands with influencing the genre of music I appreciate today.

I honestly cant remember xD
My music tastes growing up were all over the place, I didn't really have a favorite.
At times I would be really in to rap so Eminem, Dr Dre the usual suspects lol
Other times I liked rock so Linkin Park

I graduated 1998.
So, take a guess.
I have heard allot.
The thing that I find interesting is that Modern Rock/Metal/Alternative is something I dig quite allot. I figured after I hit the age of 30 I would dislike all of the new stuff.
The results?
Quite odd. I listen to stuff from the 1960's as much as I listen to the new modern hits.
I wonder if it has something to do with playing a few gigs myself and that kind of thing.
Any thoughts beside the original question are welcome here.

Good Luck To All.
Peace.

I was listening to Metallica since I was in primary school.  Since high school, it's branched out into Slayer and all of those great bands.

When I was 5 years old, I used to love that one really famous Avril Lavigne song. Oh dear me, I have no idea why I liked that song so much. It's really not my type of music. You could say that I'm still growing up, so I guess I should say that I listen to Bloc Party, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Wolfmother mostly. I also enjoy listening to various VGM, such as Kraid's Lair Theme, or the Rusty Bucket Bay theme.

Up until I hit high school, music I listened to was always
determined by another person. It was either whatever my
parents put on in the car, which usually pertained to older
country music such as Tanya Tucker, Dolly Parton, et cetera.
Or whatever my brother put on in our room and in the car.
That usually contained music like Disturbed, Tool, Linkin Park,
A Perfect Circle, and many other bands that I still listen to today.

I listened to a lot of great bands growing up as a kid. I like a lot of music and stuff from the 80s and 90s like duran duran, queen, I like coldplay, van halen. I like all kinds of music and rap too. Unfortunately some of today's music sucks but I like a lot of different groups. They have good music. I like metal the best though.
