Well I know there are dogs that are trained with food to make human sounds. There are birds who can repeat human sounds.
So do you have a pet that can do a human trait? Take for instance my late cat Jack. He started off with a simpled "Ello" for when someone entered the house. Then when he was hungry he would say "Ood!" (Food!). In the morning he would open my door at 6 am and say "Oodmoring!" (Goodmorning!). Took me a few days to get used to that. One funny day my aunt came over with her cat Sherby. Sherby didn't like Jack and would do the normal angry cat sounds. Well Jack wanted to top that off. He knows what humans do when they are angry. Jack let out many human swears, a female shriek, and the cupdegrace a baby's cry! Not only did that stun Sherby but that stunned the rest of us! Not only could Jack talk human and knew what he was saying, he could read human. I was playing a game on my ps1 and had a printed out game guide for it on the floor. I got lost on what to do in the game and all the sudden I saw Jack looking at the guide. He then put his paw on the part I needed to look at. At first I thought it was fluke that he just landed his paw there. Then he kept doing it when I needed help in the game. Another time my mom went out for errands and she left chores for me to do. Jack looked at the paper with the chores on it for a long long time. All the sudden he lept over to the dining room table. For giggles I looked at the chore list and saw "Clean the dining room table".... I then knew the cat could read. Now this cat didn't just enjoy reading but he did like to be a couch potato. We were watching a Planet of the Apes movie one night. I got tired and decided to go to bed before the movie was over so I turned off the tv. Before I left the room Jack went to the couch and turned the TV on with the remote! Then he went in front of the TV and sat down staring at it! I knew I was not going to be able to go to bed until the movie was over! So do you have a pet that can do a human trait? Take for instance my late cat Jack. My most intelligent pet is probably my dog because she can find loop holes in what she is not allowed to do. For example she is not allowed on the furniture so she stays away from them until I fall asleep then she gets on them. |

My dog from years past, Chico. Border Collie/German Shephard
Not a total genius by any means. But he had "Dog instinct" for example my aunties dog, you would throw a stick into the river he'd bring back a fish cute but not smart. Chico one time jumped over our neighbors fence. Are neighbor was a dog breeder and Chico wanted some action. He got over the fence got busy and when the owner came home and saw Chico in his backyard. Chico had forgotten he used a plastic crate to get over from our side, their was nothing to give him a boost back over. One of the funnier moments. We would go for car rides in the pick-up truck and tie him into the back so he wouldn't jump out when, we got another dog Chico wasn't to happy. We got a puppy named Clyde, so we went for a car ride and Clyde leaned over the side of the truck and Chico nudged Clyde and knocked him over the edge, Clyde was tied to a rope but was dangling as we drove for about 5-8 minutes before my dad realized. Chico tried to get rid of him, Lol He's a cunning murderer! Not a total genius by any means. klemish : Why does that remind me of Garfield and Odie? Garfield always tries to get rid of Odie by kicking him off the table, booting him off the chair, or kicking him out onto the street. I think Clyde is going to have a rough life ahead of him. |

RequiemHaunt : Indeed lol, it's a weird relationship they have constantly trying to get my attention. They still love each other though. I'm just afraid one day Chico will eventually succeed. |

klemish : Well someone should just keep an eye on the dogs durring car rides so if Chico does do that again to Clyde the car can stop more quickly and you can save Clyde. |

My most intelligent pet is probably my dog Abby. She's really not very smart, but she's extremely loyal and loves me. I've had her for about 7 years. She chose me when we got her as a puppy. I trained her. She doesn't do much anymore, but I still love her like my own. I know it's going to happen someday... But I can't imagine losing her. She's one of my best friends. |

My most intelligent pet was probably ace because he could see ghost no lie. He would bark at them because we had ghost in our house at first. Only thing that made him dumb was when it thundered he would try to jump on people. |

I think all of my pets, past and present were and are intelligent in very different ways. For instance, my cat Snuggles will come up and sometimes it sounds like she's saying words. I'll talk to her and she will, in her own way, talk back. It's very cute. She also knows when she's in trouble, she will actually cover my mouth with one of her paws if I am scolding her. LOL. My dog Coco, loves to follow me. And I mean, everywhere. She also likes to copy other animals. She learns things very easily. They're quite the characters. My sister's cat Cuddles, Snuggles' brother, he loves to sleep with his teddy bears for comfort, whenever my sister is gone. My dog Coco, loves to follow me. And I mean, everywhere. I think all of my pets are intelligent too , but in a very strange and different way , My dog can jump , sit , fetch , and many more tricks that I ask him to do . And my parrot can solve puzzles , shoot a basket ball ( a mini basket ball ) , and can arrange rings according to their colors . I usually train them during saturdays and sundays when i have a free time . I trained my parrot for about 3 years for him to be that good , and my dog for about 4 months . I think all animals are intelligent , even street animals like street dogs and cats , how can they survive without anyone who give them food , without shelter and without any one who loves them . My Shih-Tzu, Boch, is probably the most intelligent animal I have ever seen. He literally completely trained himself with minor help from me. From a baby, he trained himself how to "ferret" so he could see over the wall of his whelping box without his siblings knocking him over. He also knows how to sit, stay, come, go, down (as in get down), up, speak, and all the nifty tricks that well-trained dogs know. He was also potty-trained from the getgo. He knows where it is okay to go and where it is not.
He also figured out rather quickly that he is not supposed to take food from plates or hands unless he is told that it is okay to. So I can leave my plate in the floor (I typically sit on the floor to eat) and he will guard it for me while I do whatever. Usually, it's fetching drink or secondary dishes for him. (lol) He guards the other four Shih-Tzus and tells me if something is wrong. (Not in human speech but... in his way.) He lets me know if any of the others have escaped. He lets me know when he needs a bath. Actually, he'll throw a complete hissy over this one and the above. And well, he's generally completely awesome. I love my Shih-Tzu very much. When I was a kid we had a retired racing greyhound named Chance. He was a criminal mastermind. He was so devious he even managed to figure out the complicated measures needed to escape from the back yard. You see, the gate was by a little wall, behind which was the elevated grass. He knew not only that he had to flip the switch on the gate but also that in order to do it he had to go around the wall, walk up to the edge of the grass, nuzzle the switch just right so as to push it up and then back, walk back down *around* the wall, and push the gate forward with his body. Don't anyone ever, ever give me that anthropocentric nonsense about how only humans have the ability to reason. I think I have enough Viz for now. Permit me, once more, to retreat underground. You probably won't see me again for days or weeks. When I was a kid we had a retired racing greyhound named Chance. He was a criminal mastermind. Reading some of these replies, I'm not so sure my pet would count as 'intelligent'! LOL However, I can name two things I think are pretty nifty: 1. Two of my cats ADORE attention, and they've found out that my oldest cat is a REAL neat freak. So if they want to be pet but I'm too busy, the'll go find the oldest cat and lean on him. They'll eventually just sort of 'fall over' on him to where he gets annoyed and starts bathing them. He always looks SOOO annoyed, but he's too gentle to want to bite them. On contrast, the pesky cats always smile like they're in heaven! LOL 2. My most greedy cat doesn't like working for his food. You see, we have this neat container thing that makes them have to work for it by pawing at some little holes in this vertical maze. Since he doesn't like to work for it, he just waits for the other two cats to knock some out, and then he gobbles it up before the other cats figure out what happened. In follow-up to my previous post since I forgot to mention it: Everything that my Shih-Tzu knows, he taught himself. The only thing I ever got onto him for was speaking too much and for taking food without permission. (Both of which were simple "Boch, No." |
