So I'm 5 foot 4, 100 pounds, and I want to not gain any more weight. I don't get enough calcium or vitamins in my diet, so my mom bought me Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks that give me calcium and vitamins, and are supposed to keep me full. I'm going to try to go off 2 meals a day-- the Instant Breakfast Drink for breakfast, and then dinner (whatever is cooked, usually stir fry or something with meat, vegetables, and fruit.), skipping lunch altogether. It's only a summer thing, and I wake up at about noon in the summer, so it's not like skipping 1 of 3 meals is hard for me. Any tips or has anyone already tried this or something similar and want to share their thoughts?

I have some thoughts.

Namely, what you're doing is a bad idea.  You're not only going to starve yourself by eating only two meals per day, with Instant breakfast drink as one, you're going to suffer physical and emotional distress.  You'll be hungry all the time if you only eat dinner.  If you're staying up late, like 1.00 or 2.00 am, your body will go into starvation mode which means every calorie you eat will be more difficult to burn off when you are active.  You'll also be much more likely to cheat during the day or at night and eat a ton of ice cream, candy, pizza, and other foods.

Eat healthy food and don't worry about the scale itself.  You aren't defined by your weight.  As long as you fit in your clothes, you're fine.  No one looks at you and thinks "She's 105 lbs!  That's GROSS."  No one thinks that.

Eat food, be healthy, and enjoy life.  Don't determine your happiness by a stupid number.

Honestly, you skipping 2 meals a day is not the way to "diet" especially if you are younger. What is a better idea is eating more smaller meals during the day. like small "meals" or snacks. Just drink LOTS of water, and eat lots of fruits and veggies. Then for dinner make some protien whether that be tofu, or real meat. Just watch your portions, and get exercise. No reason to starve yourself, eating smaller portions more often will help your metabolism...which will help you stay skinny and full of energy.

A good way to get great tasting fruit is to start making your own fresh fruit smoothies. Just go very light on the yogurt, or don't use it at all. Blend a bunch of fresh fruit with a few cubes of ice, and you will have a yummy summer treat that will for sure make you feel "full"

Thanks, you guys. Now I have another question, kind of related to eating, not really the two meals a day thing.

I've lately been having a small glass of the instant breakfast drink, along with something healthy like a peach, apple, or english muffin. I find myself snacking inbetween meals. Our family does 3 meals a day, and they always make large dinners, so they make taking a 'small', snack sized portion difficult. (I've been wanting to try the 5-6 small meals instead of 3 large ones. So I'll have lunch and then I find myself often snacking before dinner.. a nasty habit I wanna shake.

Any tips?

I'm on a diet right now, and the thing that has been helping me is this website:

myfitnesspal.com

Your goal of not wanting to gain any more weight will be easier reached if you use this site. You can go to it, enter in your height, age, and weight. Afterwards, it will tell you the amount of calories you should eat to remain at your current weight. I would have to eat 2000 calories a day to remain at the weight I am, so in order to lose weight, I limit myself to 1200-1500 calories a day.

If you want to remain at the weight you are, simply use that site as a guide, and eat the number of calories a day it recommends. You should stay at your weight if you do that. The amount of calories something has is always available on the "nutrition facts" chart.

I need to gain weight. Before I moved out to Washington, i was a solid 163 pounds, with a decent build. Now? I am right at 144, and not much of a build. I need to work out, not go on a diet.

Thanks so much, I'll have to use that~! As long as I'm careful with what I eat and don't go over my limit (I hope to be under it) I should be fine. Thank you!
