Yeah, so for some reason, I decided to teach my sister how to play Pokemon. She's only 5 years old and has been a huge fan since practically forever. The reason that I decided to "teach" her is because she saw me playing a game here on vizzed and pitched a fit because I didn't let her play on the computer, so I thought "hey, why not teach her XD for the GC". I sort of regret the mistake, because usually kids this age only care about the fighting rather than reading to see what actually is going on.

Any tips/ suggestions, I'm sort of losing my patience as a "teacher" as she's driving me nuts.

Why?
Just leave her with the game, she'll figure it out.

Yeah. I didn't have any assistance when I was seven, and I figured everything out eventually. Let her play a rom of Ruby or something. The games do a pretty good job of teaching the player.

thenumberone : Probably one of the most viable situation. I mean, I had to completely figure it out when I was her age. She's a quick learner so it's all good.
tj4bigred: True that is what I first learned on as well. The closest I got to that is Pokemon Black for my DS lite.

She's 5 bro. Let her play the game and realize she can't figure it out lol.

Then she'll be asking you how to play it.. you aren't going to be able to explain it to her at that age; just tell her an excuse of some sort and let her figure it out...

Modern games guide your hand so much that if there is no GPS system we would all get lost. It wasn't like that when I first started gaming ten years ago.

Also, what a misconception thinking that all young children wanted are action. I assure you that they will love reading the text. We all did when we were that age so why think that way?

DarkCave : Not really a misconception - my point is if you can't figure it out on your own then you can't play the game. I also started playing video games at age 5.. but I had no older siblings.

I'd suggest letting her figure out everything on her own so she can get the hang of it, since it'd be better that way for anyone starting any type of game. By the way, XD is probably the best one to start her off with at the moment, since there aren't a ton of confusing and complex puzzles and such in it, Nya~.

Oh, and replying to the description "Can it be done", the answer is yes. However, should it be done? No There are enough pokefanboys/girls infecting the gaming community, Nya~.

That's always a nice thing to do. Teaching your younger sibling how to play a pokemon game is pretty nice. Especially modern kids are playing CoD these days :|

This is possible because I learned how to function technology at the age of one year old.
