That would be a stupid ticket to write and the officer writing it would feel like an idiot.. Swearing isn't even that bad.. what makes the word even offensive  and who decided that it was offensive.

A fine for swearing in public...? That's ridiculous. The way I see it, swearing is only bad because society deems it that way. Swearing doesn't have to be bad. Each word means the same things such as the S word is poop, the F word is sex. And are those bad words? No. So why are swear words bad? It's pretty unnecessary in my opinion. I think they should stop saying that it's bad.

I think punishing people for their choice of words is just wrong. This reminds me of Orwellian Newspeak ... and thats a VERY bad thing.

What happened to old saying "sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me"? I am inclined to agree with the legendary George Carlin... the youth today is in the process of "pussification". Unless someone verbally threatens another (which I believe is all ready illegal if they deem it a serious or true threat)  then I see no reason to fine them. I mean are we really going to fine them because someone could potentially be butt-hurt ( is butt-hurt safe or would that be a fine? lol) over what they said? Cmon!

I completely disagree with Jigsaw. If we start regulating what people can and cannot say than that is no longer freedom of speech, that is the freedom to do what you are told.

This is censorship at its worst, folks. Plain and simple. And this also sets a very dangerous precedent which can lead down a very slippery slope. Now that one city has infringed on it's citizen's right to speak freely, more cities will attempt to follow. Pretty soon, the federal government might decide to impose a nation-wide ban on 'profane speech' and dress it up as being 'for the children'. Next thing you know, they will be adding words they don;t want you to say to this list of 'profane speech'. Soon, they could pass a bill outlawing the discussion of certain topics in public, all the while citing this original case as 'proof of just cause'. Pretty, soon, we;re basically living in China, where citizens have to watch what they say for feat of incurring the wrath of their government. And that, my friends, is not a country, or a world, in which I wish to live.

I completely support this. Why? Because I have a daughter who is almost 2 years old and she absorbs everything she hears like a sponge. If she heard someone cuss in public, she'd start cussing and I don't care to have my daughter cussing all the time because kids, especially toddlers, tend to repeat these types of words a lot.

Plus I don't care to hear these types of words anyway. When you're a teenager these words are cool to say and hear but as you grow older, you realize the need to use these words is just a sign of immaturity. I find it sad that some people are too dumb to express themselves without cuss words.

If i was given a ticket id just be like f me thats f'in shiz right there.
Whats your badge number? Can i borrow a mother f'in pen?
If im paying 10 quid id make them hear it all.
Of course swearing loudly, in front of minors or at inapropriate times generaly gets you chucked in a cell for disturbance of the peace so that wouldnt help me much.

That's ridiculous and it's a waste of everyone's time. Personally I think police should spend more time going after people who actually dangerous. If they do implement this, good luck to the people who will have to attempt to enforce this. LOL

I don't have much of a problem with a fine for public profanity  but I also honestly think it isn't worth the time and or effort to try to enforce it, as it stands with me, I place this kind of law right along side minor parts of the copyright law which  when thought about  some sections of said law are nearly  broken constantly  but some average people everyday perhaps or so I think mostly  due to small stuff that  isn't really being cracked down upon like um I have rooms from emulators or something and I'm not getting busted for it small  details like this and the profanity fine should really  even matter it's a waste of time.

I hope to God that never happens. If that does I'm heading straight to the police with 1,000 dollars and tell them "This should last me for the day."

I don't think they should enforced this. I mean a lot of people do that in public, but I do agree people who under that age shouldn't do that in public a lot.

I think making anyone pay a fine for anything they say is absolutely ridiculous.  I don't like cursing, and even more so I don't like excessive cursing.  However, I would NEVER want someone to be fined over a choice of words.  After all, what if we as a general public decide we don't like the word 'fat', so we decide to start fining the word?  It's ridiculous!

haha This has to be the funniest idea for a law, and rather a pointless one.  Sure the country could make lots of money off of it, but it would be so hard to enforce it since curse words have become so common in use in our society these days, practically anyone and everyone would have to automatically pay $20.  Speaking of 20 dollars where is Slendy?

You know, I didn't even consider that, but you're right. Not only would the law be ridiculous, but it'd be impossible to enforce.  No one would EVER take it seriously, and I don't think ANY money would be made.  Can you imagine people actually paying that?  I mean, it's not like there's enough jail space for everyone that might not pay a cursing fine.

There's just no limit to how silly that law would be.
