Here is a review of the original classic Sonic The Hedgehog game for the Sega Genesis.

How to play: You play as Sonic, the hero of the planet "Mobious" and is stopping Robotnik from taking over the worlds after stealing the flickies and trapping them into robots to stop Sonic from getting to Robotnik, and the emeralds in which Robotnik uses to take over the world. Sonic will not accept this happening and ventures out to stop Robotnik at all costs.


Graphics - 10
Just like in my "Kirby's Epic Yarn" review, it is neat designs, but this game outstands Kirby's Epic Yarn by much in graphics. This game takes graphics and design to a whole new level to "Awesome Sauce Land". The designs are great, the backgrounds and everything was probably created in "Awesome sauce Land". I give the graphics a jawdropping 10.

Sounds - 9
The sounds are amazing also, same with the music, because this is a 16-bit Sega console. Try comparing the Sega Master System/Game Gear versions with the Genesis, and you will know that the Genesis can beat the 8-bit systems by a huge mark. I give the sounds a 9.

Addictiveness - 8
It is a very fun game to play, if you ever play this somewhere in your life, you may want to glue your eyes right to your TV or the computer if you are playing on there. I don't see why should you not play this, so I give the addicting rating a 8.

Depth - 7
Although there is only 6 zones and 1 final zone, there are 7 zones and 19 acts in total, each zone except zone 7 has 3 acts, and the final zone has just 1 act where you fight robotnik and take him down. I do like how long this is, but the biggest problem is that there is no saves, which makes a horror stress in your body if you don't have continues left or you have to go to bed and turn off your genesis. I give the depth a 7.

Difficulty - 8
The game starts easy, but it jumps up a huge gap with each zone, which means that you have to practice and learn who you beat each level. I could never even beat the Labyrinth Zone, even if I had continues, act 3 is the big problem because of the water rise stuff. I tried so hard to beat Labyrinth Zone, but the third act completely destroys every one of my lives and every continue I have, I even try so hard that I become very frustater after getting a Game Over so many times and having to start ALL over again! I give the difficulty a 8.

Overall - 9
The game is awesome, I just can't resist how much I liked the Sonic series, it was very good, the controls are smooth, the gameplay is amazing. If you ever see this game, BUY IT, don't miss out on a great game franchise.

I have always liked this game, and I have said it multiple times but, this was my first game and best game I have ever played. It is a great classic that all can and should enjoy completely and thoroughly! My favorite part was Green Hill and Labyrinth Zone, The tunes were very well done and are catchy. The difficulty is not out the window on this one, but you are still not going to beat the game on your first try!

Sonic is one of my favorite games series. Most sonic games I play are so fun and addicting. When I play a sonic game it easy in the first level, then become difficult as heck. Good review to and hope you continue to make more review in the future.

Nice review, fairly in-depth although, I believe you spelt "Mobius" wrong XD I disagree on difficulty though, it's a very short and easy game, except for Labyrinth and Scrap Brain act 3.

dazzsheil : Labyrinth Zone act 3 is unforgivable. I only made it to the boss once. I got hit by the freaking spike javelin things, and the water rises so fast I couldn't make it back in time before I drowned. Scrap Brain Zone act 3, I take a path that I used for all perfect ranks in Sonic: The Omochao Edition. That path can easily help you finish the level in under a minute.

Mobius, I did spell it wrong on accident because I forgot the name of the planet that Sonic and the action with Dr Robotnik is.
