How can you believe in everything you see?

There are hallucinations, 3D holograms, mirages that occur that can make you see much more than just fake water, 'time-slips' in photos, and so many other anomalies that can trick the eye. So, how can we be so sure that what we see is always real (especially if we're seeing it through a TV or computer)? Would you call me crazy for saying I don't believe in the worst of of the worst of what I hear about? Unfortunately, I do believe children are abused sometimes and what not. But, I refuse to believe in the unthinkable things that apparently happen to some. Forget it. There's no proof (not even DNA counts as proof when your eyes can be fooled in so many ways). Besides, those are machines. They can be tampered with. If a machine tells you a relic is over 10,000 years old, that does NOT mean it's true. And, what if I 'make out' with a cute little ladies' toes? How can you say that's anything other than sweet? Obviously, if it's me, she hasn't been walking barefoot on the floor/ground. Her feet are PERFECTLY FREAKIN CLEAN! I don't understand people.. Even her hands posses a tiny less cleanliness germs because she's been touching things, and I wouldn't even worry about that. Her feet have only touched the slippers they were in, so they're actually cleaner than her hands! Holy spirits.. I don't even know where people get some delusions. Just because some guy bench pressed over 1,000 pounds, doesn't mean he did it right or it was his strength alone. Hell, you can barely even know for sure if it was actually over 1,000 pounds!

People, all I ask is that you open your mind.. It's bad enough I'm tormented every day of existence in this world just for beings myself. This is just one reason why I believe great, positive change is coming very soon. To think, I'd actually save these mean people from harm when things got "worse before they could get better".. HML. Can't wait for this change.

P.S. Everyone PLEASE I BEG OF YOU spare me the "make change happen" lecture. I'm focused on nothing but self-improvement right now. I can't 'change' CRAP if I'm not complete with myself..

But in all seriousness, you should not refuse to believe the unthinkable things that do happen to some kids in abuse cases. Working for the children's mental health center, I have seen far too many things that have made me break down for those kids. I have worked with a kid who had to have a reconstructed eyelid because his father held him down and burned through it with a cigar. I saw the kid's eye myself . I have worked with a kid who's mother admitted after being caught that her 3 kid's room was a hole in the floor of their trailer. They had to perform certain acts on the mother to get food. I worked with the youngest of the 3 of these kids. I have worked with kids under 6 years old who wear diapers because of the muscle tearing caused from molestation. This stuff is real. There are very sick people out there. Don't take those lightly just because you can't imagine someone doing that.

How can you believe in everything you see?

Easy.

If I perceive it it has to be true.

I cannot see things that do not exist, and I can only see things that are real to me.

It may not be the truth, but if I can't see it, then there's no point in seeing it. It's not worth worrying about.

If something is true to you, something is true to you.

It's just that simple.

Unless what you can't see is hydrogen gas.

Yes, but can't the subconcious mind be tricked into believing what is not? The mind can be tricked to smell something that isnt there, see things that don't exist, and feel things when there is nothing. This brings the possibility that is in exact opposite of yours. There is the possibility of everything being absolutely nothing. Life could the trickery of a greater mind into thinking something is there that isn't. A trickery so strong it seem that it is true. Truly, there is no way to tell. Science can only go so far as, if you can see, feel, smell, taste, or touch something more than once; it exists. But as I have said before, what if we are just percieving everything around us as misguided neuron patterns. Under one logic, we could not exist, under another, we could be anywhere in space and time and only be percieving where we [think we] are now, and under your logic, it is all truth. But tell me something Warmaker, it there such a thing as complete truth when there are still such other possibilities as my own and *sigh* Rcarter's possibilities. Truth may not be what we think it is. For all we know, the existance of truth isn't even a solid truth. We can only live life like we think we do.

Now pardon me, I need to go curl up in the corner and rethink EVERYTHING I have know since now.

You clearly have no idea how DNA testing works. Machines don't tell you anything with DNA matches. 2 samples of DNA are put into an electrophoresis gel. Then it is put into a device that put through a negative current that pulls the contents of the samples through the gel. Things of a heavier charge are pulled farther through the gel and things with a lighter charge travel a shorter distance. After the process, you will see all the contents of what was in the sample in a strait line along the gel. Samples that are matches will have the same imprints along the gel. It isn't like they are putting samples into a machine that flashes "MATCH" or "NO MATCH", so there goes that argument.

I look at things as fact.  If I smell something, it's there.  My mind perceives it and it's fact.  I smell something.  If you trigger anything to occur in my brain, then I experience it.  It happens.


I don't know about the word 'tricked.'  You can trigger experiences but if you do, they happen.  I believe we don't need to pull a Descartes.  I experience things, I enjoy or suffer experiences, and I continue to move on.  If we're here, we're being tricked by what you think of as experiences.  If we were truly nothing, there'd be no reason to trick us, nor could we be tricked.

We exist and experience.  Nothing more.
