No.

As a PS3 gamer, who has played numerous games across numerous systems, I can safely say I enjoy both fairly equally.

The PS3 has a lot of nice games that you can't manage on old systems. Take Heavy Rain for example. That game is a cinematic masterpiece that has really opened my eyes to what the future of gaming could be.

The old games are great too. But you already know that.

I agree with leggy. I have grown up on games starting with the NES and pretty much all consoles after that. Though I love the retro games and always will, I also love the modern games. You just gotta find the ones that fit you.

Local Mods : wanna move this to Game Discussion or somewhere else as this isn't an introduction thread?

It depends on what game you are playing. I am 27 and the first game system that I owned was an Atari. I don't like some of the new games because, they are just remakes of the same game. Like NBA Live and football games, they are all the same to me. The only difference is the new roster and what year it is. There are some new games that suck and some old games that suck. Just a opinion.

I have grown up with NES, SNES, and N64 games over the years. I will always love the retro games as well as the modern games, that's why I have some of these emulators on my computer as well.

I personally believe that people have good reasons for hating modern games.  For one thing developers are trying to make games more accessible and do other things so the general public will have more interest in them.  This sounds like a good thing for the game developers, because they make more money this way, but it isn't good for hardcore players like myself.  Basically as a result of games becoming more accessible, they have become too easily figured out, and as a hardcore player I find myself feeling like the game developers are in a way holding their hand throughout the game.  It just doesn't feel like as much of an experience if the developers are ensuring my success.  There are exceptions such as Demon's Souls and Skyrim that I don't mind.  Another result of gaming becoming more appealing to the general public is that they started to focus more on making money and less on making a good, original game.  Call of Duty and all these sports games are good examples of this.  Every game is just a clone of the previous.  They are not using any effort or creativity whatsoever.  Nintendo still shows effort in their game design but they are still holding the player's hand through the entire game.  The puzzle solutions are always obvious in their games.  In their latest Zelda game Skyward Sword they give you a spirit that tells you things that are already obvious just to further ensure the game's accessibility.  It gets rather annoying.  It wasn't like that before.  In older games you actually need to figure stuff out for yourself.  Games were original and made with actual creative effort.  So why do you not like modern games?  Is it for reasons similar to the ones I mentioned?  I would like to know.

nintendoninja64 : Yeah it did. Do you remember ocarina of time? "HEY, LINK, LISTEN!" Navi said, every time you were close to an enemy. The most annoying thing ever. Nintendo has to make it accessible because of the age that some people play it at.
