First Review

I created this review of Mario Paint because I was severely disappointed with the reviews I read for this game. Unlike many other games, Mario Paint offers a variety of options for creative minded gamers with the ability to create music or paint, as the game suggests in it's title. The overall purpose allowed children of my generation something different to look forward to. Instead of running across the screen grabbing mushrooms and finishing levels, we were able to create our own "pretend" levels, music and so much more. In my youth (meaning I was a child long ago), I would use my imagination to create imaginary Mario-like worlds beyond the game. This imagination I possessed allowed me to scribble my non-creative talents to draw up worlds and make music that I thought could be like Mario. As it stands, this Mario Paint Rom, is probably the most user-friendly design I've ever seen. As a child, this was an amazing look into the window of level design.

Overall: 8
Thinking entirely of the creative aspect of the game, you won't find anything better than this. Your abilities allow you to create music or paintings that are Mario-like. Imagination is the driving force behind your desire to play this game. Mario paint is very unique in the sense that within 2 decades and on, there has not been a newer version of the Mario Paint game created by Nintendo. I don't even think there is any other game on the market that works anything like this. Although the Mario Paint game works like a computer program or series of programs, it does work quite well when you know what you're doing.

One thing I like about Mario Paint being on Vizzed is the ability to present unique competitions that you will never be able to find elsewhere. I haven't seen any other music producing games or painting games that work quite like this one does. Given that Vizzed has already held competitions using this game, I'd like to see Vizzed offer more. The competition swirling around this game would be fun and unique for the entire community!

I can't say much for the graphics of the game, they could be better. Considering the quality and durability of the SNES, I could easily imagine more to the graphics than what was presented. Knowing the game, they weren't horrible either but I could definitely see much more variety that could add to the unique game. As a kid, my primary focus for the game was to create worlds out of whatever things I could. I wish that the game had been enlarged so you could show more or add more pictures. The size of the graphics was overall disappointing.

One thing I did like about the graphics related entirely to the fact that it was Mario. This made picking the game up easier and made me more likely to play it. Even though the game was somewhat user friendly, I didn't feel like I had enough. Had there been more to it and more to see and explore, I could see myself giving this game a better rank for it's graphics. Maybe Nintendo should consider an updated version to a Mario World making game, even if it was just 2-D.

Sound: 3
The title screen and most music/sounds of the game are annoying. In fact, it drives you up the wall when you're on the game for extended periods of time. Most games probably have at least one song that drives you to smacking your cartridge with the entire Mushroom Kingdom. The 3 I gave in my assessment of the game is due to this in it's entirety.

The capabilities of the game for it's musical aspect and creativeness is entirely a different story. You have the ability to create music how you want. This can be copying a song from an already released game or creating an entirely new song. What's most unique about the musical aspect is the fact that you can place your notes where ever you want, at whatever tempo you want and these notes have different sounds resembling actual instruments but in a cartoon kind of manner. You can dive into the musical interface to recreate music that sounds almost the same as music outside of the game.

Take a look at this: Mario Paint Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow

Want another?: Mario Paint Legend of Zelda Overworld Theme

Something fun: Donkey Kong Country 2: Mining Melancholy

Some PSX: Mario Paint Suikoden 2 Fight With Neclord

This: Mario Paint Mario RPG Final Fantasy Culex Fight

-Some additions were added to the game that are not included here on VIzzed. I think we should acquire this, don't you?

Addictiveness: 8
As a non-creative person, I find it slightly difficult now (as an adult) to entertain myself with this game. As a kid, when the game worked properly, I had been addicted many times. Knowing that you can paint anything you want, you can take your time to express yourself entirely in your work. it didn't even have to be Mario related. Including the fact that the Musical compositions you could create is the second biggest feature in the game, you could find yourself easily entertained by placing different notes. There's also the fact that you could also enjoy yourself with other features in the game like the bug swat mini-game that I would often play. Given the combination of everything you could do, this was a game that every child needed in their collection.

Story: 1
There is no story in Mario Paint. Depending on what you did with your artistic compositions both in Paint and Music, you can create your own story. You can create your own world. Having the ability to draw up your own world makes your story as defined as you desire. Get creative!

Depth: 8
As the game title suggests, Painting is the biggest aspect of the game. Whether it's using the coloring book to make your Mario World look exactly as it is or painting something new with many colors, pictures and tools you'll find something you can enjoy. The paint program allows you to create several of your own "sprites" or pre-made "sprites" that you can incorporate into your work. The second biggest aspect of the game is obviously the musical aspect. Although you can't create master piece compositions due to the size of this feature, you can enjoy the different sounds and tones depending on several qualities you can change. After these 2 features, it's a toss up between everything else. The bug swatting game offers several levels of bug squashing fun. This gives you a little something different to do if you ever get tired from Music or Paint. The last thing worth mentioning is the "scene creator". This feature allows you to paint 4 pictures in a comic book style to build your own mini story. I personally believe that this feature could have been much bigger and if it were, possibly quite a bit more popular too. Given the number of things I've seen, I couldn't really point out anything I liked best on the game. I did tend to play the fly swatter game many times but that was the only thing, I would focus on when I grew older.

Difficulty: 9
The overall aspect of the game is quite difficult to say the least. Gamers, like myself, lacking in the ability to utilize their creativity will find yourself blocked off from creating what you envision. For those gamers who can put their mind on paper, so to say, you shouldn't find the game very difficult at all. It's a game that both children and adults can enjoy since there's something here for everyone. In the end, the quality of your music or painting depends on your own abilities. Due to the game's limited size and knowing that you can't increase the game's boundaries, you may find that you don't have enough room to do as you want.

Wrapping This Up
The main thing to keep in mind for a game like this is exactly how unique this game is. It's a classic and very original idea that hasn't been replicated by anyone in the world. Your abilities to paint and create music makes this game stand out from anything else you've played. It might not be the most entertaining game you'll find but it does find itself in your heart as a kid. When I see this game on Vizzed, I often think back to when I've played this game. As a kid, I never really thought twice about playing the game when I've done everything there was but I do know there are gamers who enjoyed this game even more than I did. Mario Paint is an incredible adventure of painting and composing your own music.
