THIS GAME IS BEAUTIFUL! It earned my overall ten.
Graphics: They are okay. Still, this game has one of the best graphics for the game boy advance. The fact that the side view always shows Lucas smiling is a little weird , because if Boney died, Lucas would be smiling at a side view.
Sound: TEN! The songs set just the right mood for the story line. Music is more important than people might think to a game. The sound player is pretty nice because you can listen to all the songs you've heard so far in MOTHER 3.
Addictiveness: Well, this category is a little hard to judge. I think it is a six. Its not that addicting, but not completely non addictive either. The main reason this is addictive is the story makes you THINK, and not many games do that nowadays. While playing, you can compare the transformation of Tazmily to people in real life. Just like the Tazmily villagers, people have changed. Kindness is not top priority anymore, now it's money. The Earth went from many trees and beautiful places of nature to places like New Pork City.
Story: BE CAREFUL, SPOILERS ARE NEXT!!!!!!!!! The story is pretty sweet and nice, but exciting too. It starts out with a young boy, Lucas, at his grandpa's house. That day he goes home, with his mother,Hinawa, and his older twin, Claus. On the way home, they are attacked by a strange mechanical creature, the Mecha-Drago. Hinawa dies as she saves Claus and Lucas by pushing them into a river. The twins are found later by the Tazmily villagers. Their father, Flint , meets them wrapped in blankets and is told Hinawa is dead. Flint is so full of grief, he lashes out and punches two people, having to be knocked unconscious. The story goes on from there. In Chapter 2, a thief named Duster is sent on a mission to infiltrate Osohe Castle. He comes back with a Noble Spittoon, only to be called a moron by his father, Wess. Wess and Duster return to Osohe castle to find out that a mysterious pig like army is invading it. They call themselves "the Pigmask Army". Inside the castle is Kumatora, the princess of Osohe. She joins them on their mission to retrieve a special object. Kumatora has an ability called PSI, letting her send out fire, ice, and thunder. Eventually, the trio reaches a strange room, and inside is....... an egg. This was the real special item Wess wanted. Kumatora rashly grabs the egg, setting off a trap. Kumatora, Duster, and Wess fall through the castle, finally splashing into a pit of water. They fight the Oh-So snake and afterwards are swept away by water. When Kumatora and Wess wake up, they are inside a log cabin with Lighter and Fuel from Tazmily Village. Duster is missing, and stays that way for three years. Chapter 3 is about a monkey named Salsa. He is at the mercy of a fat guy named Fassad, who is working for the pigmasks. Fassad also happens to be Locria, who is a creature called a Magypsy. The chapter shows what Salsa did to affect the story. This is admittedly my favorite chapter, despite all the animal cruelty Fassad does to Salsa. Chapter 4 switches back to Lucas, who's house has been struck by lightning. Every house in the modernized Tazmily now has a "happy box" which is like a TV. It brainwashes you into thinking that the Pigmask Army is great. Boney comes along if you talk to him. Wess tries to stop Fassad, who is talking is the middle of the now "Town". He is then sent back to an old folks home, which used to be his house. Lucas drops by and is asked to go to Club Titiboo by Wess. Rumors have been going around that one of the members of the band that plays there, the DCMC (Desperado Crash Mambo Combo), is Duster. Wess wants to know for sure. Lucas is given a pigeon to send back if Duster is found. Lucas and Boney almost aren't let inside, but a waitress named "Violet" comes along and vouches for them. It turns out Violet is actually Kumatora (Like someone can't tell!). After the DCMC concert, Kumatora leads Lucas and Boney through a secret passage that leads directly above Lucky's room. He is the bass player that looks like Duster. Lucky is actually an amnesic Duster. To decide if he goes or stays, Lucas plays "Stone, sheet, clippers" (rock, paper, scissors) against the other DCMC members. After Lucas wins (it's impossible to lose) Duster reveals that he hid the egg in Unknown Valley. Duster joins the group to recover the egg. After the egg is found, Duster suddenly gets back all his memories .
Later, Lucas goes on a quest to pull the seven needles to stop the Pigmask Army. I could say more, but you get the idea.
END OF SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Depth: The game is pretty deep.
Difficulty; This game is not very difficult most of the time. There are boss battles that have cheesed me off, but you just need the right tactics and preparation to beat them. Grinding can be annoying, but I haven't really done it too much. Some enemies can really frustrate you, for example Pigtunias. The can scatter seeds sometimes and make another Pigtunia, so it could be a long battle.
IN CONCLUSION, THIS GAME IS COMPLETELY, TOTALLY, AND UTTERLY AWESOME |
