Well I didn't see a thread like this and there are many many media players out there.

For music and movies I usually use winamp because I can customize how I want it to look like.

I use Real Player for when I want to copy videos from online to my portable device and that's about it.

Windows Media Player I don't use when I tried to use it to transfer music to my portable device it would erase old songs.... So yeah no go for WMP...

I don't know of any others. It would be neat to find new ones.

I use RealPlayer, iTunes, and Windows Media Player:

RealPlayer: The Ultimate Youtube song snatcher... It's the best!

iTunes: I have all my stolen Youtube and iPod songs on here, I just quickly transfer and listen

Windows Media Player: I use this to download a Psych episode... no commercials or buffering time, quick watch and listen!

I think that these all fit my needs. I did use VLC (or VCL whatever that cone shaped thing is) to watch Contagion (the movie).

Hah, I can't believe I didn't think of this thread. I'm such a nerd about this sort of thing. Me? I've got a real bad superiority complex when it comes to media on my computer--or at least I did. I'm getting older so I don't worry about these things so much, but I still wouldn't be caught dead using Windows Media Player.

So what do I use? It depends on the environment I'm in. If it's a UNIX-based operating system, I enjoy using cmus, because it's small, it looks good, and it stays out of my way. Plus it fits in nice with tiling window managers.



Isn't it cool? But if I'm on Windows and don't have SSH access to a PC with my music on it (Happens a lot since I tore down my server) then I just use Winamp--which is almost exactly the opposite of cmus, it's big, clunky and ugly--but I've been using it for like eight years, and what can I say, I like it.

Lazlo Falconi : winamp doesn't have to be big. Mine doesn't take much space at all or use many processes. I found a little theme that made it small and transparent so it doesn't bother me much. I also use it for my stream ripper app to get music off the radio stations I listen to online. Yes stream ripper is legalized to use so I can't get in trouble for using it.

Oh, I didn't mean it LOOKED big, I use a very compact theme (either MMD3 or Bento in shade mode) when I use Winamp, I just meant that it uses a lot more of my processor power than does cmus or even Billy.

I use VLC Media payer for all my videos, which I really like, but they took away most .mkv support, so now it's a lot harder to watch them for it skips frequently.

For music I use Winamp, I really like Winamp; easy to use, it's slim, and has some pretty neat features in it too.

Whenever I just exported a song out of FL Studio, I'll listen to it in Windows Media Player, just because it opens up fast on my computer, and I'm too lazy to change the default to anything else.
