Just letting a bunch of people who have taken screenshots that were lost know that a ton of screenshots were recently deleted on the server by Godaddy, refer to the announcement for more information. Fortunately, these screenshots can still be recovered from your computer, here's how:

1. Go to Start Menu > All Programs > Vizzed Retro Game Room > Open Plugin Data Folder
2. Go to the folder with your user id in it; so if your user id was 1, you'd click the 'User-1' folder
3. From here, you can find the screenshots in these directories:
N64 with 1964: 1964 > Screens
NES & FDS: FCEUX > snaps
GBA & GB & GBC: VBA > Screenshots
32X & Genesis: Gens > Screenshots
SNES: ZSNES > Screenshots
TG & NGP & NGPC & WS & WSC & SGFX: Mednafen > snaps
4. Take all of the screenshots that you took between the date I specified above and place it into a folder, if you're giving me both regular screenshots and highscore screenshots, be sure to organize it so that your regular screenshots are in 1 folder and your highscore screenshots are in another
5. You'll want to rename all your screenshots to match the exact name of the game in the within the retro game room followed by an underscore and an incremented number. So for example, if you have 3 screenshots of Super Mario World, your 3 screenshots would be: 'Super Mario World_1', 'Super Mario World_2', 'Super Mario World_3'. Also, in the screenshot names, you'll want to remove all special characters; example: a screenshot of "Legend of Zelda, The - Majora's Mask" would be: "Legend of Zelda The Majoras Mask_1".
6. Zip up that folder and send it to me at davideo7@hotmail.com or you can upload it somewhere and than PM me a link to it or you can reply to this thread with a link to the zipped up screenshots
7. Once I receive your screenshots, I'll try to get them added within 24 hours. Once I do, I'll let you know and you'll re-add them to the page using the screenshot submission page just like you normally would with screenshots you just took with the RGR Plugin.



Btw, exactly 2347 screenshots were lost and 41 highscore screenshots. (last edited by Davideo7 on 03-16-12 03:43 PM)

I sent my screen shots to you yesterday, so it's all good. I'm not upset. But like I said, the only screen shots I could find on my computer were the normal ones. All screen shots I made through the high score feature were nowhere to be found on my computer. If this is something that happens to everyone with their high scores, I was wondering if they would be deleted. I understand if they do. But I would like to add that I check all high score submissions every 2-3 days, so I can confirm that everybody's high score submissions were legit. In my opinion, since it was confirmed by staff, it wouldn't be necessary if they can't find those ones. But I also understand that since I might be the only one who can say that I monitored the high scores regularly, you feel it is only fair to delete them.

I checked the folder with the screenshots for the TurboGrafix, and all of the screenshots from the screenshot competition were there. However, ALL of my highscore screenshots from Bonk's Adventure (about 10-20ish) are all missing. I've even searched my C: drive for the word "Bonk" and it only gives me links to the missing screenshots on vizzed, saying that the data can't be found. Not only did I have the highscore, but I also had about 3 or 4 others that were higher than my high score that I hadn't posted yet. My highest score was way over 100,000 points higher than the current high score. I am upset, but not with Vizzed or Davideo7. I just hope that this doesn't happen again.

I just noticed that they were deleted. That is fine with me. I can do them again. I was wondering if it would be possible to tell me which of my high scores were deleted? I made quite a few during that period, but I can't remember them all? If it would be possible to tell me which ones were deleted, that would be great. If not, don't worry about it. I remember around half of them.

rcarter2 : There wasn't any highscore screenshots in the screenshot folder? I'm surprised they wouldn't save locally before getting placed on to the server, they gotta be somewhere. Yeah I already removed all of the highscore and screenshot entries that were missing graphics.

Interestingly enough, it seems as though the screenshots didn't recover for all of the games with a 'dash' in the title (which unfortunately, most of the games I did screenshots for in that time period had dashes in the title ).  So I'm going to assume the program that adds the screenshots back has a problem with 'dashes' in the title.
