Anyone played this series? Particularly the first one on PS1? I have it downloaded from the Playstation Store. So far it's an amazing deal for $6. It's a bit of a cross between an SNES and early PSX RPG as characters are sprites in the field but 3d in battle. The anime cutscene at the begining of the game is nice. Interested set up at the beginning of the game too.

That was the very first RPG I had ever played, and I loved the intro western music at the beginning lol.

It's been a while since I've played the game (played it when it was released), but it's definitely an enjoyable game and I like the idea of playing as 3 different characters and than playing with them all together once they meat eachother. I also really thought the town scene where you gotta save people was pretty well done, especially since who you see in the town for the rest of the game is determined by who you saved.

But yeah, the most memorable thing in that game to me is still the music. They remade the game with fully 3D graphics for the PS2 but it didn't get as good of ratings. As for the other Wild Arms, never got into any of them except the 1st.

I started playing this series late. Back in 2005, I bought a copy of Wild Arms 3. It wasn't that good. I then tried WIld Arms 1, 2, 4, and 5, and they were all so much better than 3. Then I tried XF (pretty good) and Alter Code F (I think that's the name.) The series is definitely unique, I love how it's not always like, "Get the four random crystals, smack 'em together and save the world from some random evil guy with pink hair and a weird-as-hell name!"

I have that for PS1 it was pretty good in it's time, the series changed alot in Wild Arms 4 but it still held together pretty well.
