It's official, those who didn't believe the last thread of Internet 2 it is now official that Comcast will be limiting internet usage starting Oct.1st to 250 GB for each month. Those who violate this policy twice in a 6 month period will be terminated for a year. Now this might seem like a lot but a person like me... that get's eaten up extremely fast especially if your downloading or uploading, viewing videos, or playing online games.

Peace out comcast, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Well this isn't really the same thing as you were saying in that Internet 2 thread though. And 250 GB a month is a lot, I don't see how you could possible exceed that anyway, but at least their telling us the bandwidth limit rather than keeping it a secret like they had been doing in the past.

Kinda a lot to me I share internet with 2 other people. One plays PS3 games all day online and views media as well. The other uses computer as well. Wonder how much bandwidth online gaming takes up. I mean visiting sites I should be fine... I guess I will stay away from youtube.

It would really be hard to use up 250 GB of bandwidth a month. You'd have to steam like 30 HD movies a month to use up that much and online gaming sucks up a lot of bandwidth but if someone played every day for hours a day, the most I would think that person would use up is 50 GB (but I'm just guessing).

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure this is an increase of bandwidth limit for comcast. I think their bandwidth limit in the past was 60 - 100 GB per a month so this is a HUGE increase in their bandwidth limit.

This is nothing new, in australia we have plans that have certain download limits, when you go over the limit, depending on your plan, you either;
1. pay per mb over the limit at the end of your billing period.
2. Get your internet speed shaped down, to like, 56kbps or 256kbps.

My Verizon service doesn't do that mostly because if they charged me for memory usage on wireless I'd kill them (because people from 3 blocks away can use my wireless WEP keys don't necessarily make these connections secure.

Comcast? Pssh, you should check out what Cox Cable is doing. They are EATING the money right out of the peoples' pockets.
