I was just curious if it was possible to have a genetic quirk or tick? The reason behind this is I have some European  blood and sometimes i find myself using words that the people were my blood belongs to might say or use lol and ive been doing it for years 95 percent of the time with out realizing it at all

As far as something like accents go, that is in no way related to genetics. You pronounce words the way you learned them while learning to talk. For example, I know kids who were born in Asia, but adopted by Americans. There is absolutely no hint of an Asian accent in his speech. For you, the European accent has been a part of your family, but it has in a sense been diluted with each generation that lived in the country you live in now. If yours is just a few words that aren't very detectable, then your kids will probably not have any of it given the other parent doesn't have an accent. In a nutshell, genetics plays a role in your physical and mental development, but do not really play roles in things that that are purely based on learning (like language).

rcarter2 : lol live in Canada but people think I sound American lol but anyways no I say certain words almost instinctively like most of the time instead of saying a*s I say arse, I say lov a lot when talking to a female ive known for awhile,sometimes I say jumper I sometimes, I say wanker a lot as well and I do it most of the time with out realizing it and I don't watch British shows like ever and ive been doing stuff like this since I was a little brat

Haha. I knew you weren't American. I just used that American family who adopted the kid as an example . But yeah, those are pronunciations and words that you picked up as you were developing your language skills. Even if you can't pinpoint where you might have picked them up, they are learned habits, not inherited

Having lived in the south I say "you all" a bit, but I really do not know whether it can actually be genetically given, LOL.

Like me- I'm mixed so my parents have very different "accents" or ways of speech and sometimes I've noticed that I automatically switch or kinda combine the two around certain people lol

Hi Seimika, this is a really interesting topic. I think it could be that in your subconscious mind you know where your bloodline comes from and you automaticle say some words because it is on your mind without you knowing it. The subconscious mind works in crazy ways. Also about the genes having a direct link in the way someone talks or thinks reminds me about clones and if the clone has the same memory. I am not very smart in this subject but I decided to reply because it interest me.
