I have been wanting to play this game for a while now, but there is always people stating that it freezes in multiple places.

I was hoping that this game was included in the fixes that have taken place in the latest plug in.  

Any word if it was or not?

Unfortunately, no.
The game still crashes at the 2 spots mentioned before.
This means that it is probably the ROM that is buggy not the plug-in.
If it is the ROM that is at fault, it may be hard to get a new one on this game for a while because the staff are already busy enough as is.
