Last Saturday, I missed my Basketball game (which I heard failed miserably) to take an important test for FOUR hours. It was so.. long. They call it the PSAT which is basically a test that sophomores take to become a senior. I'm only in the 8th grade, so the reason I took the test was advanced placement. I plan on getting into a good college, so why not start with going to a good high school? The other reason that I applied was because my zoned high school (school I'll go to due to where I live) has a terrible learning environment and is almost as bad as my middle school. Fights happen 2-4 times a month, constant drama/controversy is lurking in the hallways, and you can't forget about those pranks on those kids huddled in a corner over there....

At first I liked this school, but I figured this whole thing was getting kind of old.

The PSAT is not a test to become a senior. High schools have it set up to where how many high school credits you have determines your status. Anyway, the PSAT is just the Practice SAT exam. The SAT exam is the exam that some some states have their students take for college placements. Your score is on your transcript for colleges to look at. In the US, depending on what state you are in depends on which test you take. There is the SAT and ACT. My state has students take the ACT. Anyway, was the exam difficult for you? Do you know when you are supposed to get the results of it? It is good to take this early because it really helps you know what you can expect the actual SAT test to be like. One problem a lot of students who don't take the PSAT before the SAT experience is not knowing how to really prepare because they have no idea how the test is formatted.

I took the PSAT as both a junior and a sophomore. When I first took it, I had no idea what I was doing. xD But I actually got a good score, I think (I don't actually remember).

The second time I took it, I got around 200, which is about where I wanted to be, so I was happy with it.

If you thought the PSAT was long, just wait until you take the actual SAT. The latter counts for about 50% of your college education, the test itself is about 4 hours, and there's a 25 minute essay-writing section.

Someone70 : Yeah, I when I took the test it was 4 hours, but we had 30 minutes for the essay-writing section. It was sorta ironic because I had the 8th grade writing assessment earlier in the week. My Language Arts teacher just covered persuasive/expository writing so I think I did really good on it.
