An iBOCK3 Review
From the first three minutes of starting a new game, the cinematic, powerful, and masterful scene direction surfaces.
The sequel to the hit game "Digital Devil Saga", the sequel takes place a little while after SMTDDS1. It begins at the part where Fred leads you through town to figure out the current predicament.
CHARACTERS
The game begins where you play as Serph, the silent protagonist. You are seeking the "Cyber-Shaman" who is supposed to reveal all the answers.
GAME PLAY
There are many elements to this game that make it wildly entertaining.
This is the MANTRA board. It is the hex board of skills that you learn throughout the game.
As you learn skills, the MANTRA board expands further, allowing more skills to be accessed.
The battle system is amazing, it's turn-based but requires you to actually use your brain instead of just mashing "attack" for hours.
Characters enter their transformation forms into beasts when they're in battle. When surprised in battle, they don't have enough time to transform and remain in human form. Human form is weaker and they use ranged weapons instead of up-close combat.
Sometimes in battle they enter 'critical mode' where they go berserk and constantly unleash combo attacks, wiping the floor with enemies.
GRAPHICS
HOLY CRAP. AMAZING.
At first when I watched the cut scenes, I thought they were from Playstation 3. Atlus ABSOLUTELY did not hold any expense on developing the graphics for this game. They went all out and it shows in all the scenes in the game. It's simply godly.
"Wow, I really do look sexy in this game! Why is my hair purple? Don't ask..."
CONTENT
There is enough content to keep you satisfied; from all the hidden treasure bins to the bonus scenes to access, there's plenty to keep you distracted and the eye candy cut scenes are plentiful.
However, if you bought the game around its release date, the price was a bit steep.
"Hey, someone's gotta pay for these smexy contact lenses. I'm such a tool
"
"I get so smashed that I can't see straight! That's why I have these random John Lennon glasses! Beatles FTW!"
"Ya mon, get to da point. What are you gonna rate dis game? Yo I'm so Jamaican mon I can barely stand it! Make tonight a manwich night! Banana Boat!"
And here's the rating!
out of 5
Summary: This is a good game and seeing as it's now only like $17 you can't excuse yourself for not buying it. Go get it if you're an RPG fan, or a fan of really good stories!
