I have been doing Parkour for about 4 years now and I have developed a decent workout routine that I do nightly.  I was curious to see if there are any Traceurs out there who have any exercises that they find helpful.  Also, if anyone has some new moves that they would like to share or discuss, I'd be happy to assist!

I've never done this, but I first heard about it a couple years ago and I've kind of wanted to try it out since then. Unfortunately, I've never met anyone else who was into it, and I'm kind of out of shape, so I don't really want to try to join a crew or whatever you would call it. I know a guy on the Internet who does it by himself, but that just seems really sad, and I don't quite think the police would like a single guy skulking around in the dark, so that's kind of put me off.

I don't know, what would you suggest for someone who wants to get into it?

I've never done Parkour before, but then again, I used to do all sorts of stuff like that back in the day...we just didn't call it Parkour

Honestly I've never met anyone in real life that does it, I just see people talking about it online, and I've watched a few YouTube Videos where kids are doing it.

I am with a team of a few close friends and we go do Parkour regularly.  Oftentimes, however, most of my training is done on my own.  There is no shame in solo training.  There is no need to skulk in the dark either.  Remember that Parkour is not meant to be a spectator sport.  It is an advancement of self.  It just so happens that the movement, flips, vaults, etc... make for quite a few amazed on-lookers.  If you are just starting out I would recommend just working on conditioning exercises,  small jumps, vaults, etc...  Work on being able to roll out of falls comfortably.  You don't want to rush right into a 20 foot drop, because you will break something.  You need to build up muscle mass around places that you are not used to using.  So just take care, be safe, and move!

Nah, I can't do Parkour even if I tried. I'm kinda sorta fat at the moment, so I would probably fail massively. XD
But it does look cool, and if I were in the proper shape, I would probably try to get into. MY only question is this: Why is the sport called Parkour?

Parkour was established in France and Parkour is the translation of the French word for the sport; "le parcour."  This encompassed all of the skills required.  Running, jumping, vaulting, etc...  The literal definition of the sport is"l'art du déplacement" e.g. the art of displacement.
