Kendo it literally means the way of the sword in Japanese. It is a martial art which involves sword play but instead of using a live blade you use a bamboo blade called a shinai which is used in regular practice and in competition although a heavier solid wooden sword is used when practicing kata. I suggest you Google and youtube it a little if your interested. But if you look at the videos of people competing it will seem like the object is to win but to be honest the object of kendo is to enlighten the practitioner. Its the one thing that I truly can say that I love with a passion. Just check it out.

We were taught Karate for 2 years as a "self defense" class....it certainly came in handy many times in my life. Other than that, I watch Martial Arts on TV and really love the games but I don't practice or participate in those kind of events.

I have never done kendo. But it looks fun to do. Of course I wouldn't be able to because I am not very coordinated. And I'm kinda a klutz to.

Also if anyone wants to find a dojo near you I urge you to go to www.auskf.org then click member federations and dojo listings after that it's relatively self explanatory. Please if your interested find a dojo.
