As he lay silent in the night nothing but the faint light of his book lamp he soon heard a sound a sort of gun shot, a faint cry of what sounded like a cat. He rushed upstairs to look out the window and as a small figure ran down the street he walked out to see a small calico cat laying on the ground, He rushed to the cats side picked it up and brought it inside laying it on a blanket he grabbed from the back of the couch he Kneeled over and cleaned the wounds with a cloth of warm water, The cat hissed in pain as he ran the cloth over the wounds. The nearest vet was 2 hours away there was no way he would make it seeing his parents were not home and he could not drive. his neighbors had went out to a party he was stuck watching the cat die in pain and as it's soul withered away the boy cried to the sky "take care of the little guy." off he went back to bed the crying screams of the cat in his head, he lay there for a few minutes before he realized he had forgotten to lock the door. he made his way up the stairs and as he walked he saw something out of the corner of his eyes, shocked he jumped and turned around to see nothing there. He locked the door and went back to lay down again. eventually the boy had passed out,He woke up at midnight and saw the figure again this time it lay right next to him. the boy jumped out of his bed looked down to see a little cat the same cat that had just passed on, looking confused he went to pet the cat but it disappeared. "what the hell?" the boy asked as he stare at the bed just then he had heard a faint meow come from upstairs, so he followed it, the cat standing in the spot where he had wrapped it in the towel mewed again and walked to the door walking right through it the cat stared at the boy as if it wanted something so the boy followed him. walking down the street soon they hit a dead end nothing but a wall the boy stared at the cat. " there is nothing here what did you want?" the cat walking through the wall mewed again. the boy looked around and soon found a ladder. He climbed up the ladder and jumped over the wall. soon the cat had led the boy to an old abandoned house. the cat let out a blood curdling screech, the boy falling on the floor covering his ears just stared blankly at the cat. the cat scratched the door and an old man opened it. the old man stare at the boy covering his ears on the floor, "what do you want son?" he looked to where the cat had been but it had disappeared again. the man had invited the boy over for tea so the boy went in the house. looking around he saw nothing but a few pictures on the wall and a gun hanging on a plaque. "I seem to be out of cookies excuse me while I go get some from my storage shed" said the old man. the boy just nodded. as the man left he looked around to see an old frame covered in dust, he brushed away the dust reviling a picture of an old women and what looked to be the cat the boy had been following all night. he looked over to another picture one of the old man and women together. the boy then looked at a gun and flashed back to earlier."The figure that had run away It must have been the old man!" he thought to himself. Out of rage the boy grabbed a knife from the kitchen, turned out all the lights and hid on a chair. When the old man had come back the boy was sitting there waiting. "boy why is it dark in here, who turned out the lights?" asked the old man. when he turned them on he dropped the plate of cookies as the boy stare at him holding the knife in his hand. a bloody scream, the last words from the mans mouth. "I'm sorry I couldn't bare to look at the cat It reminded me of my wife" the man dropped to the floor, his now dead body laying there, the boy holding the bloody knife in his hand. He had committed murder. cold blooded murder. he stand there staring. the cat came out of the shadows purred and leap away through the door and into the shadowy forest he had led the boy through. with nothing left to do, he buried the man and the knife and went home. That night the boy had lied there staring the ceiling and as he was drifting off to sleep the cat appeared laying next to him. "so Is that what you wanted?" The cat just let out a little meow and the boy drifted to sleep with a smile on his face.
